@@vameathunter2771 No disrespect intended. I just started hunting 2 years ago (at 50!) so I have tons to learn. However, where I hunt, we are required to wear a hunter orange vest and cap. I have managed to harvest a good whitetail each year while wearing the orange. Both were taken from ground level without a blind either. For my deer last fall, I walked into an area where I knew the deer would transit through and sat in some deadfalls on the backside of a hill (the hill was rising up behind me). A doe came out along the trail heading directly for me. When she was about 20 yards out, she stopped and looked intently at my direction for a couple minutes, giving the occasional stomp. I finally figured out what she was seeing: my breath was rising up above my head and into a beam of sunlight. I didn't move. After a couple minutes she resumed browsing and gave me a beautiful broadside opportunity. She only ran 30 yards after the shot.

Thanks for your video. Last couple of days in Virginia would have been awesome for hunting. Seems I’ll be out next week in warming weather; oh well. You and I aren’t getting younger; and I hunt steeper terrain. What do you think about stashing a small tarp and paracord in the pack? We could wrap the deer in the tarp and reduce the friction as we drag? Years ago I would ford streams with deer across my shoulders. Ain’t happening again unless I start living in the weight room.
@vameathunter27712 жыл бұрын
I tried wrapping the deer with tarp in the past but it was more work and didn't help much and took longer. About 15 years ago I actually shoulder the deer across the small ravine and next day I had 2 ticks on me, so never again😂. God bless your hunt brother and let me know how it went.
