Everyone goes nuts about Street Fighter and Marvel vs Capcom, but to me Darkstalkers is Capcom's best fighting series. They should do another game but with modern graphics and story cutscenes.

All the RG team here would love to see a new Darkstalkers game, what it needs is some really good new characters and to go back to the hunter/darkstalker round system. The new characters added in Vampire Saviour just weren't that good when compare to the look of the earlier ones, BB Hood was by far the best design from the new ones.

This collection is perfect except for two minor gripes. Theres no option to change the text to english and you also cannot get say Night Warrior versions of characters to fight against other versions of the characters like you can in Vampire Chronicle on both Dreamcast and PSP as far as i am aware

An English language option would have been nice, sadly we suspect Capcom Japan expected their USA and European branches to release this, but didn't. There are a lot of undocumented cheats in this collection so a versus mode may be in there as the Alpha collection had one and this uses the same engine. Japanese cheats sites detail a lot of unlocks not covered on western sites: psmk2.net/ps2/soft_05/bact/vampirek.html (Google translate the sites text)

Our pleasure! Glad you enjoyed the video, we understand now it is possible to fight Dee according to some Japanese sites, but requires beating the game without losing a round and beating Oboro Bishamon on the hardest setting. Something we haven't done to confirm if true.

That's the grown up Anita the little girl seen with Donovan in Darkstalkers Revenge, she battles the dark form of Donovan and defeats hims, saving him from himself in affect.

See the description, no emulator was used this is a real hardware capture from the original game disc. As a rule we rarely use emulators for our video other than arcade titles.

That is a very good question and one Capcom needs to answer as by all accounts they have dropped the ball by not re-issuing this version as it is far better than any other version in the series.

No he isn't, he was added only for the PlayStation 2 version, unless you can back that up with hard evidence and the cheat code to select him on Dreamcast? He did have an used ending shown in the artbook not put into the game, the character design was originally rejected. If he had been added for the Dreamcast version he would have also been playable in the PSP version as that was a port.

How did you get Donovan, Huitzil, and Pyron selectable on this version of Vampire Savior ? I remember them being on The Chaos Tower version but when I try to play this one they are not there.

Gamefaqs and gamespots cheats list everything you need: www.gamespot.com/games/vampire-darkstalkers-collection/cheats/ (It's the extra modes you need beat that game once then press and hold Select and Circle on to select the mode, to unlock a version with all characters works on Vampire Savior 1,2 and Hunter 2.)

Darkstalkers Resurrection is not a poor version of the games. They are really good ports.

@AlexandruCatrina-bk6jg Sadly Anita had to confront Donovan (Dee) and put him out of his misery. That’s why the ending is pretty much her mourning him. Sad “what if” ending for Donovan if he ever became corrupted.

Sadly at the minute it seems doubtful, Capcom will do a new Darkstalkers game at present with Street Fighter VI doing the rounds at present. We expect the latest Capcom showcase to be most about Dragon's Dogma 2 and Street Fighter VI DLC

I'm looking to purchase either this version, the Capcom Fighting Collection or Darkstalker Ressurection. In the description "the less said about the poor emulated Darkstalkers Resurrection collection on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 the better." Could you shed light on what is wrong with the emulation? As reading the faq on Mizuumi, they said that it was the best one along with the PS2. Also - the Vampire Saviour "Arranged" mode on the PS2 - apart from having all the characters, does it play like the arcade version of Vampire Saviour with the air chains (not the air links) etc? Or does it play like the PS1 version?

Best bet is to go with the newer Capcom Fighting Collection, as that has better emulation and has more of the games on it. The Xbox 360 is older MAME emulation, plus some of the screen options they added for it added in slow down all the games that used that shell on 360 and PS3 had issues. They got the speed setting wrong on some of the combo challenges on resurrection, on Xbox 360 one of the achievements is now broken as well, made you upload a video to KZbin, awful achievement. Not played the PS1 version so can't comment.

Cheat is listed in the description for this video and he was designed specially for this PlayStation 2 collection.. He can only be selected in the arranged mode.

As per the description he was added into this collection only as these were ports and a number of extras were added. He's not in any other version of the game to date and won't be in the recent Capcom Fighting Collection either.

Read the video description this is a real hardware capture, using a HD upscaler OSSC, component cable and a modded PS2 to play import games in this case the NTSC/J disc using the games 480p mode. If you have the right setup, you can get great results for capture out of original hardware. Almost all the videos, bar arcade titles are original hardware on our channel, go check our other content out.
