The way her left leg clips through her skirt is true to what N64-era models would do. Whether intentional or not, it's a nice detail to have. :3

It also makes the fabric look like it is being pushed aside, so a bit of the N64 jank being used well.

it’s got that little bit of unplaceable “haven’t quite figured out 3D yet” jank in the animation that puts it right in that time period. also booba

Not quiet, there's great animation back then.

@@nobyra TL;DR: indeed, there was good animation back then, but i didn’t say there wasnt. the technology and technique just wasnt as refined back then and the bit of jank, intentional or not, in this video accurately captures that. i didn’t say that there wasn’t, but there’s plenty of 3D animation from the time that isnt super polished and that’s what i’m talking about. it’s in the way the leg clips through the dress. it’s in the way her gait comes down a little slower than it should. it’s all reminiscent of when 3D animation wasn’t as refined or unrestricted as it is now. a time before mocap and advanced model rigging. FFVII has janky animations in the non-combat models. Peach’s movement in Mario 64 looks like a marionette or a robot being moved around when you take away her facial expressions. tekken’s early iterations had their share of animations that were anything but fluid. don’t even get me started on pre-rendered ps1 cutscenes, while that’s obviously not the same thing as this video, i think it makes sense to point them out when some of the worst 3D animation in games at the time came from said cutscenes. are you satisfied now? have i made myself clear? i never said anything about great animation not existing at the time, because it did, nobody denies that. it’s just that a lot of baby steps were still being taken at the time and it took a generation of consoles for everyone to collectively refine their art in 3D animation.

Very nice stylization! She could probably amp up the "catwalk" appeal in the walk cycle if you're going that femme fatale look, but it'll function very well as is.

looks nice, seems like you're going for a catwalk/glide but you might want to get her pelvis moving up and down more.

You need a go fund me. Dude this game needs too get made and put on a cartridge so I can play this on my n64
@GoldenWolf1152 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, I'm not sure if that's possible without a seriously altered n64. Fingers crossed that we get to play it at all. 🤞🏻

Knowing myself I would remove part of the right part of the right leg to lower poly count. It's hidden behind clothes, so what's the point? ;)

This reminds me of how some nights Grandpa and I would eat melty cheese in the mudroom. We laughed so much as cheese dripped down his face. I can still remember his laugh. It sounded like a hundred murders of crows filtered through a ring modulator. RIPO Grandpa please stop haunting my dreams.
