Did anyone notice that Dracula's cape was stolen from Johnny? When Jonathan says "you took everything from me" - it's really true, he even took his clothes. You see Jonathan first wearing the iconic cape when the townspeople drop him off in the snow, you can see the wide collar it has and the iconic red velvet on the inside. You see it again as he enters the castle, especially when he's at the bottom of the winding stairs. He takes it off soon after at the table, and we never see him wearing it again. Meanwhile for the first long while Dracula is wearing what looks like a brown bathrobe. He slowly starts to change to wearing more suit type clothing as Dracula gets younger. Jonathan's attire diminishes like his body- losing suit jacket, tie, then suspenders. We don't see Dracula put the cape on until I believe in the room with the brides and the vampire baby, when he's fully open with Johnny about the fact that "of course I'm going to kill you", and he then carries him up the stairs, wearing Johnny's cape, who comments how Dracula took everything.

@ScienceMama In the novel Dracula took Jonathan Harker's travel clothes and left the castle dressed as Harker so the towns people would believe they've seen Harker. He did this to trick people into believing that Harker has left Draculas's castle and was on his way back to England.
@sciencemama6801 Жыл бұрын
@@DrFrankNStein-sf2ww yes I knew that from reading it too, that sounded like a one-time alibi kind of thing to me, not that he kept using his clothes so if that part was in the book I missed it. But it's a really nice touch in the show.

I mean, by what was said in episode 3, I thought that all of Dracula's weaknesses truly stemmed from the fact that he was afraid of death. Like, it's been a while, but I seem to recall that Zoe pulled the drapers and exposed him to the sun, and he didn't die as he thought he would. The way I saw it, drinking her blood wouldn't kill him, as he was no longer afraid of dying. That being said, it is quite terrifying to think of what would happen afterwards - Dracula, completely devoid of any weaknesses and able to do whatever he wishes to. Was I the only one to see the finale like that?

This series was pretty good. I like this unique take on the Dracula mythos. I love how this version of Dracula took elements from both Christopher Lee's Dracula & Gary Oldman's Dracula. I also love the fact that all of his weaknesses stemmed from his own belief in them. They could easily make a sequel, by merely claiming that he never truly died, but rather went into a state of hibernation until the tainted blood left his system. Due to some goofy moments I can't unsee (mostly in episode 3), I can't give this series a 9/10, but maybe a strong 7-8/10. There was just a bit too much humor for a Dracula series, IMO (like Machete, Dracula don't text). That's why I'd choose NBC's shortlived Dracula series (starring Jonathan Reese Myers) over this adaptation, BUT this series is definitely worth a watch. 🧛🏻♂️🩸🐺🩸🦇 #SufferUntoME

I think the ability for someone to become an actual vampire depends upon how long Dracula feeds on them, he fed on Lucy multiple times, Jonathan every night and Agatha over the corse of weeks and they became the most developed vampires. @pettytyrant27205 ай бұрын
I think folk get this series very wrong. It is NOT an adaptation of Dracula, it is a homage and tribute to the portrayal of Dracula in cinema through the ages. Episode one they shot at the castle used in OG Nosferatu, they used shots directly from Christopher Lee's Hammer House of Horror films, the sets, the camerawork it's all gothic in style and feel - this is the classic era of vampire films. Each episode reflects different ways the story has been tackled over the decades, episode two is a classic stalker/slasher film set in a remote isolated location with a small cast of characters being picked off one by one, we are in the late 70's early 80's style of story here, there was supposed to be a section set in the 70's as a nod to films like Blackula but they didn't get it in for the final version. The last episode throws folk off because it's set in the modern day, but it again is reflecting the fad for moving Dracula and vampires into the, current at the time, present day. If you watch it from the start knowing what it is, it has to end in the present day, because that is where vampire cinema was at with Twilight and such, its the last most current stage in how vampire stories are told. The series is in many ways a fan tribute to the different eras of horror cinema. Mark Gattis, the cowriter, is in particular a huge fan of classic horror and of Victoriana in general, and has done documentaries on the history of horror in cinema.

Video Suggestion: Vampires of Nosgoth There is a classic video game series called The Legacy of Kain. In the first game, you play as Kain, an arrogant aristocrat who is eventually murdered, but later is brought back as Vampire, after avenging his murder, he goes on a journey to find a cure for his Vampirism, and eventually he meets the spirit of Ariel, The Balance Guardian, he requests a cure an she strikes a deal with him, to kill all the other Guardians cause they have become corrupted, which has in turn corrupted the Pillars they are linked to. If the Pillars fall, then the world ends. It expands a great deal and the dialogue of the games are very intelligent an mature. Kain will learn a lot about being a vampire, and eventually at the end, Ariel reveals the cure: Death. And that he is her successor, and the only way the Pillars can be restored is if he kills himself, whereas if refuses, then the Pillars will topple. Given there are 5 games in series, canonically he refuses the sacrifice an uses the remains of the Pillars as the seat of his empire that he intends to make. There is honestly far too much to unpack, and even tho I mentioned the ending to Blood Omen 1, there's still Blood Omen 2, then Soulreaver 1, then Soulreaver 2, and finally Defiance. All the characters both good & bad are fantastic an the origins of the Vampires is explained. One bit, there is no Dracula in this world, Nosgoth itself is it's own world.
