actually him and stefan, the guy who did the vocal guitar solo, both sing the rough guitar notes. stefan sings the lower note, and ross sings a fifth above that to make a power chord

If you're not convinced of a cappella metal: buy the tribe of force cd and check out the song 'one to ten': in the a solo part there's grave digger guitarist (playing an actual guitar, yes!) dialoguing in a duo with the "fake" guitar by stephan... The effect is simply awesome!!! Metal a cappella adds something to the metal genre... METAL WILL NEVER DIE!! ALL HAIL VAN CANTO!!

@Plerchi1 VC has these specialized recorders which allows their voices to emulate instruments successfully while still sounding like their voices. That's why you can hear a bass even though one isn't present.

@aezakmei They don't use electric guitars. The guy who does the guitar solos electronically distorts his voice. On the album, the track "One to Ten" features guitarist Victor Smolski, who does a duet with the "vocal" guitar using his actual guitar. Van Canto has released a series of videos detailing the process by which they write songs, and it includes a section on how they do the solo guitar line.

Very impressive!!! Erstaunliche!!!!!!!!!!!! Skilled and original musicians, with a brilliant sound... This is definitely a break from the above average sound metal seems to have these days. If bands like Judgement day and Apocalyptica are considered metal, I dont see how Van Canto is any different. The fact that they actually have balls to create something like this makes them more metal than most metal bands. A lot of you cant define metal, so dont try. Hail!
