Against a field of dopers - whats the point? 😀
@TellmewhyIdontlikeMondays6 ай бұрын
@@tfaseffiS I have ADHD too and take Elvanse. I haven't found too much increase in pace, probably because it increases my heart rate and I don't love that, it's also harder to exercise in the heat. But there's definitely an increase in motivation to exercise and probably endurance because stims do give you steady energy. I don't notice I need water or food, which is fine up to a point but the bonk is just deferred until they wear off 😂 I'm not gonna judge anyone for using ADHD meds if they need them, god knows I wouldn't be in successful full time work without them. But a TUE for them is kinda complicated in high level sport. Different people are affected differently. And the diagnostic criteria for ADHD are also somewhat vague and there are good and sloppy assessors out there. I'm trained in it, it was part of my job at one point, but funding and waiting list pressures meant services were cutting the time you had to do a good job of it. If one wanted to get a diagnosis in order to access prescription medication, there are ways and means if you have the money and the contacts - it always helps to have good friends of your channel, as we know Uncle Cycling Highlights has many (and they're always Danes). That said, we also know there's a lot of neurodivergence in pro sports as well. It suits us spicy folks well for a number of reasons. Interesting study recently about how cycling can alleviate the symptoms of ADHD, in fact. That was a kinda long and rather ADHD response lol

A lot of athletes, yes. A lot of champions. France isn't UK. They know something. Also, few records are broken in the era with the Best nutrition and technologies as the cycling experts are saying
@John_Wall6 ай бұрын
@cyclinghighlights Your videos are excellent mate, but I do have to question this comment. First, GC riders breaking records on climbs in the TDF, are endurance athletes, and therefore comparing the gains they can make due to improvements in nutrition and recovery to those made by sprinters is problematic. Secondly, the only real equipment gains a runner can make is with their clothing and footwear. Cyclists can also make gains with clothing, so those two cancel each other out. So what you are in fact saying is that the possible improvements in footwear are comparable with the possible improvements in bikes. I would have thought there are many more opportunities to make improvements in performance to bikes than running shoes. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to suggest that doping isn't taking place, I just don't think comparing the differences in possible training/nutrition/recovery gains between cyclists and sprint runners is proof that cyclists are doping.

Better that 99 have access to a living through sport and justified TUE system even if 1 abused it. I think the ISTUE is so strict now it's almost impossible to get a TUE though in cycling. Last time I checked it dropped to as low as 7 TUEs issued across 1400 pro cyclists and 12 months. It isn't affecting results in any repeated way anyway.

@GuntherL16 ай бұрын
It's not that straightforward. Some studies report performance benefits, others didn't. However, I found the following: "Using methylphenidate may increase core body temperature and heart rate while exercising". That doesn't sound ideal for a TdF. I've taken Ritalin for years myself and I know the effect starts to wane after 3 to 3,5 hours and is gone after 4 hours. You need to really schedule your intake well to get a maximum effect :) However, when I took a tablet after 13.00h, I'd have trouble to get to sleep at night. It just doesn't sound like the miracle PED some people claim it to be.
