It may sound outrageous for Sutton to name VVD as the best player to have played to have played in premier league when we have had the likes of Bergkamp, RVN and RVP who had many consistent seasons and are premier league legends but they play in different positions so perhaps difficult to compare. What I will say though is that I’ve been watching football for 35yrs and VVD is the best defender I’ve ever seen I think. He has absolutely everything. Reading of the game, positioning, awareness, strength, great in the air and he even has great speed for someone his height. I don’t think I have ever seen him make a mistake. He is like the super player my son likes to create on Fifa/PES etc with highest possible ratings in every area. It will be a travesty for him if Liverpool don’t win the league as he has given them such a great chance to do it.
