Van Grades is a new segment for How We Van where we ask owners of Class B vans to review (grade) their van! Kathy has owned her Winnebago Roam for about a year and graciously gave us an in-depth tour and graded her van. Thank you Kathy!

I thought this was really informative but wish you could have shown Kathy using the lift: opening and closing the slider door. I am handicapped and wish to see more of our beautiful country. This would be ideal for me. Overall rated the video “A+” Ha!❤️

Glad you liked the video! Hopefully you will find a van that meets your needs and takes you where you want to go! It is a beautiful country! The lift can be operated with one of the remote controls (wired and wireless) and there is a manual leveler if needed. As for the slider door, it is manual but Kathy can easily open and close it so it isn’t super heavy like a Sprinter door. Thanks for your comment and for watching!

Great video filled with awesome information. 😊 when you open the air mattress.. isn’t it in the way where the wheelchair is parked. Do they sell these in south Florida? Thanks again 🥰

Hi … glad you enjoyed the video! The air mattress goes over the cab seats in the front (drivers and passenger seats) so the wheelchair can remain in the back/house area. Not sure where the van is sold … I purchased in Northern California.

Thank you for doing this 😊 I am looking for roam for myself 😢 I saw some reviews on it but they are not handicap 😢😂 and they did mention the special features like extra large bathrooms and space but in turns on how good are these features 😢 that is only a person with handicap can really use do those help for them and she said It is easy to drive and park that is what I to know to others just said how easy it is to drive but I don't think they have actually driven it my family didn't have lots experience on driving a van like that and I don't want to put down the money and they can't drive it one thing I like to know if it will fit a regular size garage? and it will fit in a regular driveway I don't know if it is too long or too tall for a regular garage you answered it can't go to the drive through but it's ok with me because I don't need to walk in 😂🤪🤔 I can wait in the Van and let my family do the walking 😂 the lift should help because my wife likes to garden and sometimes she will get a fruit tree and it is heavy and tall and it's hard for her to put it in the minivan with the lift she can roll the tree on it and raise the lift and roll the tree in the van since it has a big space in the middle 😅 I wonder if you can do a follow up with her and maybe her husband if that is possible I would like to hear from him as his experience with the Van what's good or bad about it and thank you ❤

Thank you for watching and for your comment. Here is Kathy’s response: Hi, Bear with me and I’ll answer your questions and address your concerns as best I can. My Winnebago Roam is made specifically to be handicap accessible. The bathroom is larger than those on other 19’9” vans and the aisle is wider to accommodate a wheelchair, if needed. (So far we have not needed one)🤞🏻. I am 77 years old and this is my first van. I was very apprehensive about driving such a large vehicle, but am loving it. The visibility is great as is the turning radius. I drive it all over town doing errands. Parking is no problem since it fits in a regular parking space. However, keep in mind that you are in a tall vehicle which can limit the use of parking garages and drive-thrus. (Where is your family when I want fast food)? My Roam fits side by side in front of our two car garage. Remember though, it will not fit IN the garage because of its height. Sounds like the lift would be a plus for you and your wife’s gardening needs. The lift and extra aisle space would certainly make moving trees much easier than hefting them into minivan. Yikes! My husband finds our van comfortable and convenient. It fulfills our needs to date. We love our “port-a-potty” on wheels. All the best, Kathy
