that was brilliant. The rhythm riff you understand perfectly and you worked to nail it. where you changed it up was in the spirit of the song and the tone. i'm glad to see young players 40 years removed from eds debut taking their precious time to learn what really is valuable music. the things you are learning are standard repertoire much like a Mozart piece played by millions of students. van halen is unique. no song is really alike and all composed in a way that exploited the potential of the electric guitar as a solo virtuoso instrument of great harmonic power like no other and to be taken serious by modern composers as a resource to be considered. Rocko you only showed a little of what you can do. Give us some more! but never let anyone see all.

Nailed it…what an awsome job! I was in high school when this album came out, and this was my favorite song. It was the precursor to everything VH was about to do…and the Monster act they would become. The vocals, harmonies, tempo changes and of course, Eddie shredding his Frankenstrat…and You did it justice. Bravo!!

I've been practicing this rhythm every day for 5 months now. Still not quite a full speed but thats because I refuse to move on until I really get the swing down at the tempo im at. This song alone has taught me what a rhythm monster eddie was

It can't be overstated just how far ahead of Eddie's time and outside the box this style of playing is given the time period when nearly all other bands where still playing Chromatic Blues scales and riffs. Early 1978 no less.

bop-badah-shoo-be-do-waaahhh.. not only were VH talented musicians but they were also talented a-cappella singers too lol. Good cover, man. Totally nailed all the harmonics too... in some way every era of VH is genius and good because EVH created it.. but imo VH1 is their best album. I feel like EVH was a genius because he didnt know "music theory" so to say but he sure as hell knew how to utilize what I like to call his EVH guitar shapes when he would do a solo. He literally used the same 2 shapes up and down the neck, either with his 1st 2nd and 4th finger, or 1st finger 3rd finger 4th finger.. he'd always use some varation of that finger shape form but always still some how came up with original new sounding guitar solos or licks. I noticed you doing his finger shapes while you were doing the solos in this song.
