I was 25 in 1991. It was a great time to be in my 20s. RIP King Edward ❤

I was at this show. I was a sophomore at UNT in nearby Denton. This was a makeup show for the Texas Jam, or maybe the Monsters of Rock (I don't know for sure as I wasn't at the show where Sammy lost his voice). He promised that VH would come back and make up for it. The night before the show, Redbeard on Q102 said that an announcement about a Van Halen show was going to be made the next day. I took my walk man with me to my economics class. As soon as they said the show was going to be at West End that afternoon, I started getting ready to leave. I told the guy next to me about the show, and within a few minutes, about half the class was getting up to leave. Our poor professor had no idea what was going on. A buddy and I made the 45 minute or so drive, cranking Van Halen stuff all the way. We got down there several hours before the show so we could be close to the stage. By the time Ed's guitar tech came out on stage, it was just wall to wall people. The tech played a few notes, and everybody far away from the stage pushed forward thinking it was Ed, and I just got lifted off my feet. That was some scary shit. We ended up about 5-10 feet from the stage dead center. I think the guys played about an hour, maybe a little bit longer. After that the city shut them down. I know they wanted to play longer. A really fun day regardless.

I lived for days like that. It's a shame that this never happens anymore. Concerts are so lame these days... most of the excitement is gone... the journey getting there was half the fun

Sammy's voice is rough here because He had just gotten over a serious bout of strep throat just the week before. Thats why they are doin the free concert in the streets. Sammy sounds good considering that fact. I would have been pissed to have bought a ticket and then had to fight a non paying crowd to see the show, but happy to see VH just the same. ROCK ON!!!

damn why does michael anthony have his own mic? i wanna hear his part on that last note more. i cant tell if its the same pitch, a higher one (whether on accident or to harmonize) or if its a lower harmony. i just wanna know because hes actually singing and not screaming. theres like a second where you can tell their voices apart because hagars is so scratchy in this recording.

you guys serious. listen to the rest of the show. SAMMY IS GREAT....his voice is greattttt.........get a life
Hes voice is kinda tired, that's true, but it still sounds pretty nice!
@jamminjohn13 жыл бұрын
@codebreaker212p No, it didn't sound good and despite how lousy this sounds and still say it sounds good. The band sounds good and Ed is jamming more than he did on RHRN but Sam dropped the ball big time.
@jamminjohn13 жыл бұрын
@codebreaker212p You can enjoy it all you want but you said still sounded good though. I hear how Roth stinks it up but this performance gets a pass? This vid among others I've heard goes to my point that Sham is not the end all be all of live performances. You want perfection Steve Perry is your man.

Judgement day is like a watered down relative of Romeo Delight. I only listen to Dream is over off this album. Humans Being is much more great than this.
