I saw the Mighty Van Halen play this in concert on the Diver Down tour. I was front row and I’ll never forget it. Love this song. The song Intruder, the instrumental? The beginning of the song is Ed using a Colt 45 malt liquor can as a slide. I watched him play it about 20 feet away. Awesomeness!!

It’s simple VH was untouchable as a 3 piece…. the bass and drums are not mixed down in this outtake and the King is just grooving!! I know there’s a Treasure Trove in the Vaults. Alex and Wolf need to come to terms that Ed was the Star of the Band and made everyone rich so stop having so much resentment towards the fans.

This song is so emblematic of that era summer of 1982 It catches the vibe of Southern California in the summertime. It was literally a contemporary version of that Beach Boys vibe and if you're familiar with the Beach Boys endless summer vibe you know exactly what I mean. This is the song that could be on endless repeat in the background throughout the summer time on any Southern California beach whether you're writing your ATC (yeah this was before quads) playing volleyball surfing or just scoping out the chicks (yeah I'm a chick but we were still scoping chicks back then too). This song is California summertime perfection and I just can't get enough. My goal is to learn how to play this on 12-string acoustic with a loop so I can tap in with the six string on the lead. Don Henley sang about the boys of Summer, Van Halen lived it, They were The Boys of Summer ☀️🌴🌊

Good song, but one of Eddie's strings sounds slighty out of tune. And he uses a rare "normal," undistorted strat tone on this one. RIP EVH 🙏🏼

Sometimes a 12 string can be left slightly out gives it at a natural chorus sound - it’s a close run thing. Brilliant to hear Eddie playing a 12 string though isn’t it!

EVERYTHING sounds soooooooooo much better when that egotistical. Prideful. Manipulative maniac Dave isn't stealing the show. And..Allowing Eddie to just fucking BREATHE. This instrumental is a prime example of Eddie's MOST AWESOME CREATIVITY. Dave had his time with the mighty VH early on. He actually ruined the band from Diver Down. Into 1984. All because he refused to actually give Eddie his creative space. Like an abusive parent. Suffocating their child's creativity. RIP. Eddie. You ARE The Master Virtuoso Guitarist of ALL TIME. We're missing you dearly.
