I love that you got Starr on here, this guy does DLR sooooo well. He’s a huge fan, and a genuine guy. Saw them in Soo Michigan, a border town across the river from Sault Ontario, and man….what a great time! My bandmate and my brother Joel…..we all went and saw Steel Panther, and man what a show.!! Total respect for them!

His story of 1st meeting Roth had me laughing. Early 2k's I lived in L.A. saw the Punks alot and Metal School (known as Steel Panther today. 1st Punks show I see Ralph peeking outta the dressing rm. Knowing who he was as a VH die hard I decide to make my way over. As I'm getting closer going thru my head is "oh God I hope he's just a regular dude and I don't get the DLR shtick". Anyhow I was not disappointed just a regular cool down to earth , very friendly guy like we see here 20+ yrs later.

It's easy to understand what Roth is saying if you are a creative song writer. He talks in that mind set. I always got everything he ever said. Love it.

Micheal Starr shoulda shot back to Eddie in line at Staples, “You already know it all Boss, I’ll nail all Roth’s shit, plus I’m a human being, without a bloated ego, we really should get together to jam!…LoL…🤩

A long time ago I watched a weekly internet animated series called Strong Bad where I sometimes saw snippets of a band called Steel Panther. I thought it was a spoof until I eventually looked them up. I've been to two of their live shows since then and love the whole act. You guys really take it back to a unique time in music. Thank you for the interview.

Fun interview. Van Halen nerd here, too... I would have LOVED to have seen Ralph sing in Van Halen after Dave left, certainly after Sammy left. Ralph's a really good songwriter, and the evidence is all over there first several SP records, but EVH wanted Gary Cherone... 'what could have been' should be the Van Halen motto. What could have been had Roth never left the band; what could have been had Ralph replaced DLR: What could have been had Ralph replaced Sammy. We'll never know, sadly, but VH sold 80 million records worldwide and was the biggest band in North America for years with its dysfunctional core at each other's throats for much of it. What could VH have been if their personal relationships were more like Plant/Page/Bonham/JPJ and less like Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey.

First time I have encountered you 🕺 this is a great interview. Please let me tell you, as a musician- it’s very hard to pick only one. I would ask to give me your top five favorite songs, people, etc. Much more interesting for the listener and then it’s just not over in 30 seconds 🙂 Keep up the good work

@@FinalResonanceTV I understand. If I were ever in your shoes, I would’ve spent more time on that question. At the sake of others. It’s just impossible for me - when put on the spot. It’s so hard to choose one. Is it The Beatles combined as the greatest songwriters of all time - with Paul being the best soloist? Jimi Hendrix or Randy Rhodes, or my old friend, Zakk who was my teacher? How about Vinnie Moore, or Paul Gilbert? The Amazing Phil Keaggy.? Or another friend with the best songs and beautiful melodic solos , Could be the best… Ty Tabor? oh yeah, what about Nuno Bettancourt? everyone’s going apeshit over that new solo on rise- as one of his best solos 🤷🏼♀️ for people who don’t know about Nuno: that’s just how he plays. 🙂 I think the solo on Banshee is better Have you heard Three Sides? Anyway, that’s how my brain works in 2024 at 65 🙂 Have a great summer , Jon

But how would he sing if he was brought into VH? David Lee Roth impression? I don’t think so, and singing as his own self, I think he would let DLR creep in, and that would be weird.
