I had a friend who was always one step ahead of me on VH. I was sitting in home room 1986 and our morning show was about to end. My buddy was the camera man and audio guy. All of a sudden I hear the keyboard intro to WCTBL. I had no idea that he had recorded the single on FM radio. As soon as I heard the keyboard, I looked at my friend Thad and said, this is the new Van Halen. I just knew it. It blew me away. I spent the Summer of 1986 listening to Van Halen, drinking beer, driving back roads, and getting laid for the first time.

there was the idea that Leslie would become a new member of BTO, but it didn't really work out. He only played a few dates with us. Eddie Van Halen: Every idea that the man upstairs gives me I have the pain in the ass job of, “Okay, god, what are you gonna lay on me next?” Because he lays stuff on me, then I gotta figure out how to make it work, which is not easy...
