That’s 100% correct! Even some have lost their job, because they may have innocently put their hands on someone’s shoulder. I got in trouble because a coworker said he had cancer, and said nobody cared. @Jeff Andon Maybe the company you work for has different rules and procedures. HR has to go to the person affected because somebody seeing an altercation and reporting it, when the person affected not reporting it, can be taken out of context. Ex: Myself and a Co-worker (friend) skylarking or involved in friendly roasting on the job and another co-worker sees our interaction and reports it to HR. HR CAN NOT go off what the reporting co-working says then take action. They have to confirm the altercation with the co-worker that has been harmed, assaulted, abused, etc., before taking action. That is grounds for a wrongful termination lawsuit.

Somehow it got to HR and they wanted to punish her, and I pretty much had to tell them "No, she meant nothing by it!". I think they were just waiting to get rid of her and somehow build a case on her. She was clearly joking, but that job was sort of where I lost my innocence to to speak. My opinion, he played himself. Not only him but many others. I work for HR. What people don't understand is you should Never be too "comfortable " with anyone or any position on a job. Leave Personal Relationships At Home. Some say Race has alot to do with it ( I'm not naieve) there are times that it does but believe me you'd be surprised that Black people under mind each other too if not even more than other races " undermine" us. On a job there should be a personal line drawn with your superiors and other coworkers. I don't care if you work for a Fortune 500 company or a car wash. There are supposed to be boundaries if you don't want any problems because sooner or later someone is going to be offended. Something misinterpreted, someone feeling violated, no real meeting of the minds will cause Huge problems. Just my opinion.

Sad Van had to learn the hard way. When you're black in these corporate spaces, you can't express ANY type of perceived physical threat to a resolution to problems or issues. You just gotta go to HR because if you breathe to damn hard they'll have you sitting in a jail cell wondering how the fuck you got there. We're not gonna find out the truth or how Van truly feels until he is beyond needing the relationships he's built with people at TMZ and in LA. If he actually reveals the honest truth it will effect a lot of his business, cause that's how Hollywood works. If you read between the lines of the story He himself is telling there had to be cooperation and confirmation in order for the company to take the actions it took legally to let him go. But he also forgot the number 1 rule of America; Every Black action outside of a smile is taken as aggression. And trust that they were threatened by a black man with strong opinions, values and intelligence. They love to fool us by placing other black people around us and pretending it's a safe space. But the reality is whether it's 1 or 101 every last black employee is held to the same secret standards and its about which ones conform. I say all this to say that Van has chosen a career path where even telling the story, as a black man, is a mark on his potential relationships and business partnerships in the future. So until he no longer needs those connections to climb to his desired height in Hollywood then this white wash "everybody loves me" bs is all we'll ever get.

He didnt get fired because van put his hands on mike. The staff and mike probably spoke to eachother and they asked mike “ do you wanna press charges for van touching you?, he said no. Staff then asked mike “ you want to fire him instead? Mike said yeah”. Mike could of told staff nah, van is my friend.

As a manager the fatal flaw that any employee can make is putting his or her hands on another employee. In fact you shouldn't even pass words. HR will go immediately to the worse case scenario and flag 🚩 you as a problem and terminate you. They will talk to the other employee and if they don't like you they will say they aren't comfortable around you and then you will be terminated.

There is still a number of old Cancel Cultures in the workplace. Once long ago I worked in a firm where the whole division was wife & husband swapping. Literally. They called each other “work husband” “work wife” in the office. I thought that was odd to call each other that, but you do you. Being the only single person, eventually I was approached to join in. I declined, but in their minds they made an “offer I couldn’t refuse”. At lunch the week of the offer, the entire division went to “lunch” - there were several four-star hotels nearby. As a last ditch effort to invite me, one of the executives told me which hotel and room number he could be reached at along with two other of the staff if I changed my mind and that they all had rooms there, be back in a few hours. The entire division was at “lunch”; they were writing the cost off to the client. While they were at “lunch”, a call came into the office. A very very important call. No one was there to handle it. No one. This division specifically handled these types of matters. Couple dozens people all at “lunch” at the same time. The senior exec was dissolving his corporation and the partnership was no more. No one there to help him - I called the hotel room I was given, no answer, left message front desk; cell phone went to voicemail. They all came back from “lunch” smiling & giggling, saw the message and within hours told HR I took it down wrong and had caused untold chaos and panic. HR said see ya. A few days later it was on the news the company head who left the message had dissolved the corp just like they said they would and that division I worked at was being let go from the partnership. That division was a boys club. If there is anything to tell Van need to speak up and stop the pc convo or that situation is going to follow him like a rabid dog.
