So far, after years of motorhome life, I would be sure never ever to buy a Ford Transit. Too many problems. There is a reason why the majority of motorhomes is build upon Fiat/Citroen/Peugeot. In the US these are badged as Ram Promsters. They are very high demand and I haven't seen anything but a fairly beaten up one for $37,000. That was, I think, a 2018 with 90,000mi. You also can't get them with a manual trans, which stinks. Hi guys, just watched your van purchase vlog, very enjoyable. You mentioned the milage at 95k being high for a 2018 model that`s less than 25k per year, for a van sounds about right. I am converting a Fiat Ducato here in southern Ireland ( Cork ) and I look forward to seeing how you get along with your effort. Best of luck Karl Horgan

95k miles isn’t a lot for a diesel. But should have got a pre q3 2016 van without ad blue. Personally I’d have gone to basevan and got an ex ambulance. They’re serviced twice a year and usually low mileage. Already have heaters and insulation etc. could have got a really decent one for less than 10k
@JodieandJoe2 күн бұрын
Id have preferred a pre ad blue too but we wanted a Euro 6. An ex-ambulance sounds interesting though!
@Ian-ev5tg2 күн бұрын
Basevan do some great vans with warranty. The boxer isn’t a great van for reliability though to be fair. Those engines suffer with injector issues, ad blue and DPF and they commonly give up the ghost at 180k miles and need a replacement engine. I almost bought one until I saw how unreliable they are. I went for a Renault master as the 2.3 is a Mercedes engine. Definitely have the ad blue remapped out along with the egr valve and dpf. Get the injectors cleaned and seals changed if you haven’t already and you should extend its life a lot longer. Just found your channel and I’m binging all the videos now. Really good watch.

Oh wow, amazing prirce at the end, just try not to look at diesel prices! When buying vans I always keep in mind that they are built to do 300K at the top end when abused so 100K is nothing to worry about. Should last you for years. Only thing to keep in mind is parking and the clean air fines as it you might get hit by them if its not euro 6 engine.

Always negotiate, dont be sold warranty on something you know is faulty, thats a sales technique. Tell them you like the vehicle but its too high a price, then offer maybe £2k less, if they agree to your price or somewhere close say thats great, i take it you'll have that clutch fixed too..... then after all agreed buy a warranty of your choosing. Best warranty advice is to look BEFORE shopping for a vehicle, then you can compare what you've seen online V the garages offering 😎👍

Any used common rail van, is likely to experience major mechanical/electrical failures quite soon. The worst thing of all though is go into buy a van, with zero knowledge of vehicles, and no idea of the costs of long term major problems. I bought my van totally crazy, ...... and wrong ! I looked five weeks in the internet for a minivan. But most were in too bad conditions. Then I found one: Old, dirty, full of Garbage. But it would run all well. With title and keys. Never buy a vehicle without test driving ! - But I did it. Big risk, but I can fix vehicles. Next problem: 160 miles away, but I cannot pick it up there. So he offers me, to bring it to me by his lorry. - ok. So I paid him 180 pounds in advance, to bring it to me. And he did it ! I climbed up the lorry to check the minivan. Engine, clutch, battery etc. It is really ok..... and dirty........ So i paid it, and got it. 360 pounds for the Minivan. (Made 2007, ca. 160.000 miles) It is a Vauxhall Combo C, with a turbo diesel engine with 100 HPS. Some minor fixing needed for MOT. So Everyone would call me crazy or mad: With this cheap car = all Garbage ? When is the car broken ? After one mile ? Got scamed ? That`s how my story will start.
@sunnymas26562 жыл бұрын
To buy the best vehicle - is the most important and must difficult part. Because all is nothing, if the van does not run. Or get no OK by your MOT. Check out, what kind of engine your Peugeot has ? Is it a Peugeot or a Ford engine ? - Then check in the Internet, what eperiences others have, with your type of engine. L3H2 is a good size. I would say: Minimum for a camper van. Maybe in the future, I would buy also a van in L3H2. Check out, if a car mechanic can find a way, to make your clutch pedal easier. I remember the so called "mouse trap" at old Harley Davidson Motorcycles. To make the clutch easier, to use it. Greetings from sw germany.
