So we got ourselves into a little bit of a pickle last week when the Ferry to Whittier got turned around. Back in Juneau we look for every opportunity to get ourselves to mainland Alaska in hopes of continuing our van life travels. Needless to say this ones and roller coaster...

Loved the highway drone shots! That had to be the longest screw I have ever seen in a flat! Have you guys ever thought of doing, of have you been to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area in Minnesota? I think you'd love it but I am thinking you can't take dogs on second thought so nevermind. Safe travels! One more...then I'm caught up! yeah! Wait, boo then I have to wait for more, rats!

We didn’t know about the boundary waters until we watched Kara and Nate this week but it definitely looks like an adventure that we would love! No dogs is definitely a bummer though.

The Canadian mosquitoes were beyond aggressive haha! Luckily the ones in Alaska haven’t been as intense. Evan only has like 20 bites 😂

Loved the video! Haven’t watched in a while since my wife and I started our own vanlife adventure. Thinking about heading up to Alaska next summer to work for a season after we spend the winter in Baja. Hope the travels get a little less complicated soon... I say that as we are stuck in Whitefish, MT waiting on a new lithium battery because our AGM’s got damaged.. it’s all an adventure though right?! Have fun up there!

Montana must be cursed! We got stuck there last year waiting on a new inverter because we thought ours was broken. 😂 How exciting that you guys are off on a van life adventure as well! We’re thinking about doing a couple weeks in Baja this winter too.

Hi guys- we're van-lifing in Alaska for the summer, but are from the lower 48. Question for you guys- besides the glitches you experienced, can you normally just take your van onto the ferry and to Juneau for a while? Can we spend nights in the van there easily? And about how much did it cost to ferry the van over? we're wanting to do whale watching in Juneau and potentially spend a week or so there, but want to make sure that we can bring the van since we also have an adventure dog with us! Any tips or info would be so awesome!

Awesome! You're going to love it. We took the ferry from Bellingham to Ketchikan for 2 weeks then Ketchikan to Juneau for 2 weeks then we were going to Whittier until this happened... haha. So yes you can van life throughout the ferry trip. I do recommend checking out our other videos leading up to this for more details/experience about the ferry. It wasn't the best for our high energy dog but she survived. The prices vary depending on length and how early you buy your ticket so I recommend getting them sooner than later. I think ours ended up being just under $4,000 with all our stops and we got reimbursed $1,000 since we didn't make it to our end destination. We thought this was really expensive but we were desperate to reach one of our van life goal of going to Alaska. Highly recommend the Whale watching our Juneau video shows our experience.
