Curious choice of background music in the opening montage. The slow violin slides evoke feelings of drifting at dusk. Or the general feeling of uncertainty. This enhances the footage of pressing north in that you’re leading the rest into the unknown. Your push to Denali on a trail that’s unpaved must have been exhilarating for the other Revelers as they find themselves on the path less traveled by in both spirit and experience further exemplified by the shot through the dreamcatcher on your rearview mirror. Your comment about finding some animals and the “rawr” from both of you was positively delightful. It’s great that the rain cut down on the dust for the people behind you. That way they were able to look out and see what they can see. At least the road is gravel. If it were actual dirt, that would be a lot less fun. A population of 27, but they can’t actually do a census. That’s because with their socks off, they can only count up to 20, and they wouldn’t want to leave anyone out. Just imagine the difficulty if the population were suspected to be in the 30s! The “One Lane Road Ahead” sign was hilarious to see. It’s already a one-lane road, it just has pullouts. What were they working on with the excavator? Putting in drainage? Seems to me that Alaska is a place where they constantly have to repair washouts from every spring thaw. It’s awesome that you’re out living the dream.
@WingsandWheelsAlaska2 жыл бұрын
Hi Brian! For the main part of the trails they were more gravel. When we got to the actual trails those were purely dirt so the rain definitely could have made them a bit sticky. The population counts there are interesting indeed! We thought the same thing about the road sign. I think a 1/2 lane road sign would have been a bit intimidating though 😂. I think they were doing work on the rock wall there and trying to widen the road slightly although we are unsure. That area gets a lot of work due to the washouts and slides in the area. That cliff to our left side is extremely steep. Have a wonderful week!

For Wi-Fi Starlink for RV’S is really good

We do have that but not fully reliable in Alaska just yet
@robertdoyle8972 Жыл бұрын
I’m in Alaska also have lived here for over thirty years and right now I’m out in Dillingham Alaska and it works better then the internet that they have out here lol and I’m doing the RV one to be able to take it wherever I go in Alaska I’m just out here for work for now in Dillingham and they do have one that works as your driving down the road also but it’s like $2500 for the set up but I travel alone so no need to be able to use it when driving for me but for people with kids or someone else in the vehicle can watch a movie or play games or whatever with that one as you drive

Starlink has become the popular go to for many of the people working from their vans. Although it doesn’t work in Alaska yet, we are on a waitlist for it. Many have weboost and use hotspots. We use an att hotspot but we don’t feel the weboost is necessary. If we know we are going to be working from the van, we just find a good spot for att service for the day. As far as security goes, some have alarms, some have cameras, most have dogs :)

We're actually a few days away from heading up the Dempster highway to Tuktoyuktuk. It took a while to decide to either go the Prudhoe Bay way, or wait and go up the Dempster. We chose the Dempster only because we could actually drive right up to the Arctic Ocean. Have you done that route yet? Anyway, love the channel! We've been learning a lot from y'all as this is our first time in AK. Keep up the fantastic videos!
@WingsandWheelsAlaska2 жыл бұрын
Yes we have done both. We had our only flat tire on the Dempster just after the Arctic circle. Shale sliced right through the sidewall. Both are beautiful in their own way!

Hi Guys, Great video as usual, scenary is fantastic. So where's the newest member of your family "Bella"? I've told a number of friend here in OZ ask me about Alaska, the first thing out of my mouth is go to KZbin and follow "Wings and Wheels of Alaska". How did everyone enjoy the back country of Alaska? Anyone find any "Gold" during theri panning sessions 😁 Fireweed is getting closer to the top, soon it'll be snow everywhere ❄🏔☃⛄ Be safe and have fun Your friend James
@WingsandWheelsAlaska2 жыл бұрын
Hi James. Bella was at a kennel during this trip. We did not have time to properly integrate her into the family and train her so we thought it would be best not to take her during this and overwhelm her. She will make her entrance to the channel soon 😉. We have slowly introduced her and ember, done a lot of training, and have been introducing her to the van. All is going well with her. No gold unfortunately 😂
