😀 A BIT ABOUT US:
We’re Marianne & Chris, a happily married couple from the UK. Marianne is a living kidney donor to her best friend, and realising that life was for living and never really knowing what’s round the corner - we decided to fulfil our dream of travelling full time.
So in March 2018 after the kids had left home, we sold our belongings, rented our house and moved into our campervan called Trudy. We set off to see the world and after vanlifing around Ireland and Europe, we grabbed our backpacks and spent 5 months exploring Central America.
Feeling like we needed a challenge, we planned the ultimate van life adventure! In Jan 2020 set off to drive around the World from UK to UK. But after arriving in Turkey, covid caught up with us and closed the borders, so we had a wonderful 18 months exploring this special country. Realising we were not going to be able to head further East, we decided to do a handbrake turn and go the other way and shipped our van to the USA.
We hope you enjoy coming with us, and we’ll continue to share our real adventures and hope you feel inspire to step out of your comfort zone and try something new.

The dullest man in US, Sir John, is without doubt one of the brightest as he's sitting on an absolute goldmine of collectables! Driving along roads like this shows the real America, away from the madness of freeways and glitzy cities.

So glad you came back to see Northern NM. You asked about the home structures. These are mud clad (Adobe) built homes and can be found all over NM, but especially in Santa Fe and Taos. This is often due to local building codes that require some places to maintain the original historic appearance. Adobe homes like these were built by Native Pueblo cultures and adopted by the Spanish when they colonized the region in the 17th century. Downtown Santa Fe has maintained this historic look, and also includes rules against building any structure taller than three floors so that everyone can view the mountains. Also exterior lighting is restricted so we can all enjoy the night sky. (Note that Santa Fe is the oldest Capitol City in the USA). I hope you made it to downtown Taos too. It’s very unique.

You should sweep up that white sand in Trudy and put it in a jar for a memory. When Mt. St Helens erupted, I collected some ash on my car and put some in a jar . I still have it somewhere. The canyon is cool, but wait till you see the Grand Canyon , a must see when you do Route 66 later this year.

The Taos Pueblo is a Native American multiple dwelling Adobe structure, which was there when the Spanish Conquistadores arrived in North American, establishing the Palace of the Governor's in Santa Fe. The climate in New Mexico is so dry, the thick walls of the adobe structure is perfect for the climate, warm in the winter and cool in the summer! I have driven that very highway north from Santa Fe to Taos along the Rio Grande River, that flows south all the way to the Gulf of Mexico, that's a beautiful drive!

Loved Sir John, that was a great meet-up with him and his cool museum. Oh my, and more good food you found. I would have loved to bite into that pizza, you found "little Italy" in New Mexico. What a view to leave us with, that was awesome with the sun going down and the river canyon below. Hope you find lots more of those stops for the night. Have a great weekend, it will be busy with it being our Memorial Day holiday weekend. Take care!

@@TREADtheglobe , Just put the return address of the person you are sending it to. You don’t have to put their name but just the address. I will estimate the postage a lot of times to avoid long lines at our post office. Sometimes I may be 5 cents off. If the return address is the person you are sending it to they just ask them to pay the 5 cents. If the return address is yours it will be returned to you. This will delay the parcel you are sending it to for weeks! It’s so interesting watching you travel the US. What we take for granted is of course foreign to you so I love seeing your, WHAT face! Enjoy your journey! Look forward to all your episodes. 20/20 is over when I sheltered so I dropped a lot of my subscriptions but I kept yours!!!

The mud houses are called adobe, and is the way the Native Americans, such as the Pueblo tribe, built their villages. And they are surprisingly cool in the summer and warm in the winter. ☮️♥️☀️🌹 Hi Marriane and Chris We're following you in America so we can get to see fabulous America, especially like how we don't like to travel, only if we have to. You mentioned it's difficult to find water. My husband who is a cross country trucker and is from Denmark, said to tell you, you can find water at rest area by the repair shop, there's usually a water hose or by the diesel station, there's usually a hose. Or any big bathrooms, you can take a gallon or two until you can find more. Don't hesitate to ask people if you stop at a store or if you see someone around their house. They would be more than happy to give you guys water and more, because 90% of Americans and kind hearted helpful people, especially if you ask them for water and food, like your subscribers that took you out for lunch. Americans love to pick up the tab. So keep on trucking in your ice cream truck! Next time, the best time weather wise to visit America is January, February, March and April because the weather is not hot and humid. You also can stay very cool by freezing water bottles and put them around your forehead and neck area. It will cool you off instantly, also you have ice water to drink as it melts. That's what we do everyday in the summertime. Cheers to America the greatest country!
