Some of his later less known work but so deep. Give him a chance. He is one of the truly great singer songwriters.

Van humming and singing muddled lyrics through the harmonica into the mic. Does this from time to time and still does it in concert quite a bit when he plays Baby Please Dont Go. Backup is Brian Kennedy, another irishman. Brian Kennedy was with him on several albums through the 90's.

Beautiful & haunting song about his troubled homeland Northern Ireland - “in east Belfast where Georgie knows Best” ( reference to a genius soccer player also from East B & was friends with Van who sadly drank himself to death) “what’s it like to be Daniel in the lions den - got so many friends only most of the time” - this clearly references Georgie Best demise due to fame. Always hits me this song as my parents are from Ireland - NI & republic

No one should wonder why we love Van Morrison, this is why., He is a great poet like diamonds in the night. And as a super fan that voice was Brian Kennedy not a woman but a brilliant singer with VM.

He spills his guts out... exactly. damn the bad notes, damn it all...he is "in the moment".. in concert he uses the songs as avenues to be in the moment... awesome choice! now go to.. "Sense of Wonder" ... "Hymns to the Silence" ... "So Quiet in Here"... incredible.. (Brian Kennedy sings with him)...

Stream of consciousness. Love it! Exposing his soul. He goes into a trance sometimes!

The instrument you were wondering about was trumpet played through a harmon mute. And it is actually a harmonica in the song. Van both plays it and vocalizes through it.

If you look at Vann's live peformance today he has slowed down due to age, but in my book he is a living legend

Van was introspective as a young man. Now he's REALLY introspective as a senior. I'm sure he'd be happy to be described as a poet, SAD.

That wasn't a woman that was Brian Kennedy, organ and oboe in this. Van sometimes takes you on a meditation, this is one of those times.

The same search for altered states, the invocations, incantations, the same instantly identifiable voice, phrasing, delivery, aura of ritual and devotion... one expects magic any second, sometimes it arrives. This is '95. Now, after nearly 60 years, still following his muse I guess. So many songs become semi-verboten due to over-exposure. Gimme 'Brown-Eyed Handsome Man' over Van's eye color tune, or the Who's, though I played that too, more willingly, for that reason only. Always loved 'Blue Money', near as much as the green 😂💸 Been worried about him lately, EC too, hadn't listened to any previous Van tunes you've done...stupid, I know. I will now, or soon. The song, or the art, not the flawed human behind it, eh?

how about a reaction to one Joe Bonamassa with his group " Black Country Communion" featuring Glenn Hughes, Jason Bonham, and Derek Sherinian on the keys, Live over Europe > song is " COLD"

My uncle Ken was Van's biggest fan. He had absolutely everything he'd ever recorded and multiple live shows. We all used to take the piss out of him, much how I'm sure my siblings think I'm nuts with the Zappa shit. Well Ken knew what was up. You guys, the title track from Astral Weeks, or Madame George, or the title track from St. Dominic's Preview would be right in line with this Van sentiment
