I didn't get him until I was in my 50's or 60's. I heard him early on but didn't like his voice or "little brown eyed girl". Once he got jazzy and or instrumental then I loved him. Not sure when that was but I picked him up again later in life.

Agree.. it's different (seems mostly right hand) and grabbed me with the first chords. I wondered who might be playing, then saw "Scandinavia" live and see Van playing piano... Listening to vans music since 73,and the one thing that strikes me is even years after he has written and recorded a track he will still work and hone it till perfection is reached.This tune captures the Celtic "Soul" so well.
