It is the Lord Jesus Christ talking to his bride (the church). Those who are truly his in heart and mind. It is a love song that talks about leaving but his second coming. The words are so beautiful. It is about coming back and hoping to find His church in tact. The real church - the followers of Jesus, not religion. It is a song about a deep heart connection between Jesus and his people. His love is hard to put into words but this is one of the best attempts of this I know.

We knew VM was going to be something special when we bought that first Them album back in the mid 1960's. The Beatles be darned, the Animals (with Eric Burdon) and Them (with Van Morrison) was where it was at for us and our fledgling new rock band. The Beatles were sweet, melodic but juvenile. Burdon and Van Morrison were raw, gutsy blues with edge and power. They have both stood the test of time and are still on their feet signing and shinning.

Always reminds of the one girl I fell head over heels - out of my mind in love with. I knew her for a few years through a mutual friend but always thought she was out of my league - so when we actually got together I thought God himself had smiled down on me. I played this over & over while waiting for her to return from a trip on the other side of the world. So much longing ! A short crazy amazing time. Then got her pregnant - but she didn't want it. Terminated, & terminated our relationship too. My heart was in a million pieces. Left quite a scar. But still a great song !

Thank you for your thoughts Patty. This was certainly the darkest period I had experienced in my life. I also had a very close friend suicide at that time. Fifteen years ago now. Its weird but I have not crossed paths with her again in all that time. I still think of her often. I'm not sure how I would react if we met again. Am now in a very good place with a beautiful wife who brought me a beautiful little boy. Life is good. What doesn't kill us make us stronger, right ?
