My dad used to take me and my younger brothers to Van Nuys airport almost every weekend to watch the planes, and walk around the parked planes. We played who could identify the aircraft the quickest. Then we would stop by the Sepulveda Dam to watch the model airplanes fly. That was in the 1960’s. He took me to the 94th Aero Squadron at VN airport and bought me my first legal drink on my birthday in 1977, two months after I discharged from the USAF (we overlooked the fact that I had been drinking legally in the Air Force for years). The airport has really grown up since then, and now I take my dad to watch the planes at VN. He’s 96 now, and gets a little frustrated at not remembering all of the aircraft models (but can still nail most of the manufacturers). Love watching the planes online, but it’s still better watching airplanes live with my dad. Thanks a lot for all the hard work that goes into making your videos. It would be nice to see the aircraft’s stated range in your Chyron.
