I have wanted to build a small aircraft for some time now, and I have to tell you: I was grinning ear to ear the whole time I was watching this video. great job.

Great video! A 7A is still in the "hopefully someday" phase for me, thanks for the inspiration. Wherever it is that you live looks beautiful by the way, all sun and mountains!

Our first RV build was an RV7A which we still own and love. Van's kits are the best IMO, everything is figured out for you and builders support is excellent.

We'll have to look you up in Sedona one day. We just flew over coming home from St George on Friday. Considering and RV-10 very seriously.

Congratulations on completing the build in 2 years! We just passed the 2 year mark. Just finished the cabin doors and take delivery of the interior next week. A slide show of our build is available on my channel. Beautiful aircraft you have there :)

This was our second RV build and like our first build we had very few problems. Building the kit is very straight forward. The custom stuff like A/C, built in O2, monster panel and TCAS were the only real challenges.

@Rammmathornnn Thanks. We've built both this and an RV7A, Van's really has great kits that average people can complete. I have a friend who's in his 70's building an RV12, a mostly pop rivet kit that's turning out great.
@TomLombardi14 жыл бұрын
@RCpilotjr They are called clecos and yes they are a spring loaded temporary fastener. You usually use them in every other hole as you're riveting to keep the skin aligned. We used about 500 at one time to attach the skin to the fuselage. I'm not sure what you mean about the green goo, there is a pre-shaped fiberglass cover that goes on between the vertical and horizontal stabs. The fiberglass work on the cabin top was a difficult part of the project, lots of cutting, filling and sanding.

Just stumbled upon your video, may I ask what the black device (2:43) behind the baggage compartment is?? Just couldn't make it out. I plan to order my empennage kit next month.

As a Matter of fact at 2:41 there is a pic of the a/c hoses and an expansion valve. Also at 5:19 it looks like a compressor on the engine.

I think it would be cool to burn jet A, but the IO-540 is one of the most reliable piston engines, so range would suffer and it would be more expensive to operate.

love blind melon and love rv 10, how long it took to build ?

What are your thoughts of using a PBS TP-100 Turbo-Prop in a RV-10? The RV-10 happens to be one of the a/c listed for the TP-100 to power. Thanks!:)

Tom, thanks for the reply!:) Question: I noticed in another RV-10 build video that a fella was using an over-head lighting console out of a used Chevrolet Blazer for his RV-10, had the little doors for holding sun-glasses and such, does the RV-10 kit not come with a standard over-head ventilation/lighting console? What did you use? I've noticed some very nice over-head consoles on some RV-10's that had lighting and ventilation, just curious. Thanks!

@blahphish Thanks. It's a great flying airplane, you'll love it.

Hey man, beautiful airplane! I just have one question, all the pegs sticking out at :49, are those holding the skin in place for riveting? And do you have to use that many? also, did you have to let the green goo dry and sand it down how you wanted it? it was put on the vertical stabilizer near the fuselage i believe.

p.s. Would you say that the RV-10 is a comfortable enough 4-place for 4 average sized adults, capable of carrying enough baggage for the 4-people to get them through a week-end trip? Thanks again!:)
