We like the new layout. They do make unlimited WiFi hotspots that run about $70 a month. They are 4G LTE service via AT&T. We used ours for the apartment and the van. In you case you would need to get one with a external antenna port connection. (Amazon). I do mean unlimited, my kids and use use it all the time... Seriously we average 1.5 TB of data a month and the most we used was 2.8 TB in a month. Safe travels and really enjoyed the video. ✌️

Love this lay out. Currently we have an 18’ trailer, and the worst thing is the bed that goes across it. Really like how yours is the length of the van. The bathroom and kitchen are great- better than most class B factory vans- they always put in a microwave (+/- convection) and ugly sinks! Love the oven- most useful and large sink with the faucets and soap dispenser. I think for the money those companies charge, they should be taking a lot of tips from van builders like yourselves! Thank you for sharing ❤️

Nice van, very cool setup. One observation, the combination outlet/usb seems inefficient for this application. Your inverter is converting battery power to AC and then those combo outlets are converting USB back to DC. Might be better to ditch the combo outlet and run a USB port directly off the battery system.

I stayed to the end. Props to you for making it so interesting. I have a suggestion for another episode. How about a data dump on fuel economy, power consumption, data usage (cellular hotspot), travel and vehicle related expenses (e.g., waste dump, mail forwarding, gym fees, highway tolls, vehicle washing, tire repairs, vehicle maintenance, parking/hook up fees, etc.), and other things that I can't think of because I don't live in a van down by the river. I might be the only person to watch to the end, but I kinda think I won't be alone. Also, since you're not very stealthy, I'm curious about how often someone knocks on the door and asks you to move the van. Do you find that other Van Lifers sorta spontaneously congregate around you when you're parked (like, do you wake up some morning and find there are 3 other vans parked right next to you?) . Last, how often are you recognized when just out and about? Just curious since I have to live vicariously through you.

Love your setup - especially the original office. ;-) That's been my main concern as I plan out a build. I've downsized from double monitors to a single 32", and might be able to drop to a 27" at the most, but I still need to run the computer and an external RAID hard drive setup. Figuring out how to power and use all that is a priority. I'll be solo, so I now I'm thinking of making a setup combining your old and new - left side booth, long table and right side office/chair underneath. Curious how long you could run your iMacs without plugging in. (electricity mystifies me. lol) If I'm in the middle of editing, I sometimes spend some long days at the computer. Thanks for the tour.
@chrisandsara5 жыл бұрын
Hey Bobby! Our iMacs were actually really efficient. We really could go forever without ever plugging into a shoreline! We have our batteries hooked up to our alternator so that whenever we're driving our batteries are charging. Between that and solar on top to top of the batteries, we were good to go for as long as we wanted! Electric stuff is SUPER confusing. Definitely talk to AM Solar-- they do free consultations where they help you put together a good system for you. We told them everything we needed to power in our van and they took all the guess work out for us. Definitely the best 30 minute investment we made in our build!

I love the integrated water filter. Have not seen this so far in Van conversions. But I would not install such a huge stove and oven. Maybe instant Pot would work the same way, but I never owned it.

Hey! Do you mind telling me the length of the entire van in feet? Also, what's the length of the interior space in feet without the drivers seat area? I'm asking because I am currently using an online program that allows me to design a 3-D model of my own conversion before actually building it in real life. Before I start my build, I need to know the exact measurements. I'd really appreciate it.
@chrisandsara4 жыл бұрын
The interior cargo section of the van (behind the seats all the way to the backdoors) is about 11.5 feet. When planning out our layout I found Sportsmobile's diagrams of the different vans to be very helpful: sportsmobile.com/sprintervan-info/ Hope that helps and good luck! :)
