Interesting that he used the back compartment for batteries and propane, and all his solar stuff. He actually has a lot of solar capacity on that roof, too. Nice set up. Totally functional. Good move to put that fan above his bed.

I’m happy to share with you what someone else shared with me. An easy way to clean the glass on the door of the wood stove. Take a piece of newspaper and wet it good. Dip it in the ashes and rub away that creosote in 30 seconds!!

This guy has one of the best builds I've seen so far. He has good taste with the cedar paneling, the wood stove, the real windows and doors... AND a legit shower? I might have to look into getting a step van, although I drive them at my job right now and they are a beast to drive. I can't imagine going long distance in one of these :/

The build , the tour, the interview, the man(Duane) the van, were all GREAT, but the part that touched me the most was the part about his son helping him with the build, and how well of a carpenter he is... I believe we all saw that in his home, its beautiful, but to hear him say it, and compliment his son, made me tear up .... Bob, as usual, great tour, thank you both. 👍

Beautiful!!! I'm so thrilled to see the 7' bed. My hunny is 6'7" and I've been planning a build to ensure he has the height he needs. I haven't heard anyone mention a bed length of 7' but I thought it should be possible. Very reassuring to hear him mention it!!!! Thanks!

I was brought over here from a short, so glad I watched the entire tour. Duane and his son did a fantastic job on the build. Love the interior and 'homey' feel ...fireplace is a nice touch and I like the Ikea slide-out drawers (something I'd definitely want) ...there's so many things I like about the build, thanks for sharing! ...safe travels!

This is sweet. Love the design and Ikea slider drawers. The tongue and groove make it seem like a home. So much going on here. I would love to have a kitchen like this. Nice area for the cutting board that was just tucked away in plain sight. Love the shower curtain, hot water on demand, heating system etc. Etc. Etc. Beautifully done and clutter free living at its best.

One of the best van conversions I have ever seen. Great build! I finished work last summer as well and bought a narrowboat and the comments made about community applies to the narrowboat community as well. It's weird that in a house you only know people briefly, but in a boat (or van), you have family around you.

Duane is living life the way some of us should. After getting out of the service in 1973 I bought a van and traveled from Connecticut to Minnesota down to New Mexico,Arizona and back to Connecticut and it is one of my favorite memories. Thanks for the smile

Great build! What I really love is the lift for his Harley. I’ve been worried that if I wanted to travel with a bike, I’d have to trade in my Fat Bob for a lighter bike, like a Triumph Bonneville. But, seeing Duane’s rig, that’s not necessarily the case! Well done!

Great home Duane! So true about retirement. 7 months since I've retired and getting things sold to roll on down the road. I can make things work but penny to penny and nothing to do anything else but occupy space. Can't wait to head out and see the country. Thank you for sharing
