These "No Build Builds" are my favorite videos. Many people (myself included) can't afford the fancy high dollar RVs and Vans, so vans like Mary's are inspirational and encouraging for people who want/need to sell their sticks & bricks homes. Good luck, Mary. You're living the best years. Thanks for sharing.

@A G I agree I really need to do this, First I'd need to live in my car, "unfortunately it's my ex partner of 10 yrs car, he fell out if love with me when i went through colon cancer, which is a disgusting humiliating cancer to suffer from, After surgery there's the iliostomy bag, when that's finally off your left pooing in your pants everyday so I understand why he left, So now I can't work as much as I need too and just can't afford rent, I'd live in the car, save for a van, And kit it out the same as this ingenious woman has done, That's my plan.

@@FelixRosas10 R-value has to do with insulation. Putting quilt batting in the curtains made the curtains thicker and gave her better insulation over the windows. It Increased the R-value. It is a measure of resistance to heat flow through a given thickness of material. R-value is important, but it's just one of four key factors that determine the effectiveness of an insulation material.

Much as I would love a complete build, I look around at existing furnishings and can't get past the idea that it makes more sense to repurpose than build new - at least for part of the van. I saw a woman using an old buffet in her van as her kitchen counter and thought it was brilliant. It was unique, attractive and not as needlessly deep as standard kitchen counters. Plus, those drawers won't have 4" of wasted space at the back.
