It is all about the bed isn't it. Camping, whether in a tent or a van, swinging in a hammock or on a bedroll under a tarp; while what and how you eat is important, getting a good nights kip is key to having any entertaining adventure in the great outdoors. And your bed (in both single and configurations) looks the absolute business. Thanks for the video, I hope you enjoy making them and folks enjoy watching them. Keep on camping :)

Nice video, I feel the T4 is a beautiful van, always felt like a car to me when I drove one a few years back. I think the pop-top would be a great addition, to at least enable standing, etc. The hob arrangement? Worries me! So close to the front seats of the van. Strikes me as a gigantic fire hazard...... I know you said you were OCD about the design, and because you knew you'd be cooking in there you avoided the carpeting for the sides, but how you missed this I'm not sure. I'd be terrified to cook like that, to be honest. I do think though that the open design is a better option, many of these conversations I have seen seem overly cluttered and loaded with things that would likely never be used. Anyways, enjoyed the video! Keep going!!

Camping one pot recipes?? I may have a nice set of booklets (pdf's mind you) which were used back in the day by German Army field kitchen chefs who were doing their magic in the so called Gulashkannone, a pressure cooker/coffee maker/oven on wheels, early models where horse drawn, later models were dragged around behind small trucks. If you like old recipes and don't mind the German translation dance, these booklets are great to study.

Really enjoying your videos. I’ve been down the KZbin rabbit hole looking at van layouts! As a solo traveller I really like yours and the fact you’ve kept things simple. I’ve a few questions and it would be really helpful to know your thoughts. 1) Have you ever had to jump through to the front? Is it possible with your layout? Thinking solo female needing to make a quick exit. 2) I see you’ve no sink and have a fold up one. Is that a regret? Presumably you just heat some water up in the kettle and just chuck it on the ground when finished. 3) What’s the length of your bed when in single mode? 4) You’ve no leisure battery, how do you go on storing food? Do you have a cool box? 5) How do you go on for heat when not on hook up? I see you have an oil filled radiator. Must be cold if off grid. Presumably you get all steamed up too. 6) Your lighting is battery fairy lights. Is it enough? Sorry for so many questions, just trying to work out best way forward :)

Hey AC, thanks for your comment! I love pantry tours too, I'm always getting great ideas from them! I forgot to film the little cupboard under the water cupboard - it's one long drawer that pulls out and is where we keep things most of the year to stay cool. In the hotter months, we take a cool box and usually keep it in the front of the van when parked up. One day, if/when we get the electrics & solar sorted, we'll install an electric drawer fridge.

Dont even think about a roof tent they are awful, climbing up and down a ladder is not nice and if you slip you are buggad. Instead buy a 2-second tent from Decathlon, much more practical and cheaper. If you have a R&R bed and a swivel seat, you can feed 4, or sit opposite each other, plus you can sit down to cook while the eater relaxes in the double seat. Down in 1 second, up in 5 seconds and bedding stored behind the seat, all done inside the van with the doors shut. Back in 2015 we bought an 08 Vivaro, no work, no rust and conversion parts about £1k all in.

You're sweet but that's the most ridiculous bed setup I've seen in a van build and I've seen them all, you planned too hard because that's too complicated and all those pieces unnecessary. The last thing to worry about is the spices, why go through the trouble with loading tictac containers. Spice containers are so well thought out that no point in anyone creating anything different, they're as small and easily stored as your tictac rendition and nicer looking. I like Myrtles color and that you're happy with her so criticism aside, good for you getting it done....happy travels and thumbs up!
