YES! Most people don't realize that cars "crumple" in an accident. You can have a minor accident, and the doors won't open. You can also have a minor accident, and smoke coming from the engine (that means run). And water...I had a friend drive off a boat ramp in the town she grew up in because of fog. Your doors and windows do not open under water. You have 2 minutes. Get a window breaker.

I realize this is old but better than handwarmers are uniheat packs used for shipping plants and live reptiles. They max at 100f so no chance of scolding with them and they come in 24 to 96 hour packs. I have various hours for my reptiles encase we lose power in the winter.

Along with jumper cables I also have a portable jump starter so I don’t even need to call roadside assistance if I need a jump. I noticed that when I got a jump using my insurance the last few times they would send someone driving a regular car who had one of these jump starters so I decided to just get one myself.

:) Thank you! Yes! I keep a good stock in my van and it always feels nice to be able to help. I don't like giving them money because I don't want to accidentally help them get substances they are struggling with but I do want to make sure they get a little bit of food. I also had one instance where someone at a park was having an insulin reaction and was crashing hard with no sugar and no one had any candies or anything so I ran to my van and got a chocolate covered granola bar and some almonds and he perked right back up. :D

You're so right about the extra pair of glasses. A few years ago, I was walking to my car in strong wind and rain. The wind knocked my glasses from my face and into the storm drain. Since then, I always have a backup pair plus prescription sunglasses.

Thank you! I don't really cook when I was in my van full time. I found it was easier to just stop and get food on my way. Or make sandwiches and eat things that I needed to keep cold - fruit, veggies, sandwiches, peanut butter, nuts, etc and then for dinners I would just get something warm in town if I wanted a meal and then save my leftovers and warm them up with my hot logic the next day. I'm more of a snacker in my daily life and eat small things throughout the day so for breakfast I just do yogurt and fruit etc and lunches usually sandwiches. Dinners - I either stop at the store and get something cooked in the deli or hit up a nice mom and pop small business in whatever town I am visiting because I love to support local communities when I travel. My "Kitchen" has plates/bowls/utensils etc, a small mini toaster I can use to warm up pizza or make an english muffin, a small contraption to boil water for tea or soup etc but 99.9999% of the time if I want something hot, I will go find it. For heat, I use an electric water bottle or heating pad as well as just warming up my van to as hot as I can stand it before I crawl into bed at night and then remote start if I need to warm it up again but I haven't spent a lot of time in colder places where I need anything more than that. :)

I aint gone lie, this is sooo cute. I’ve seen plenty but this is super personalized. From the kitchen to seatbelt, I love this. I’m trying to convince my 4 teenagers if we can van life/RV for like a week in summer. I almost got em. Now they would need alot of space and I’m scared to drive them big ass RV’s lol. Sometimes I wanna van life ALONE for a few days.

You're the FIRST vanlifer on KZbin that has that same vibe as me - bohemian, light hearted, not trying to take this life too seriously - and you're unapologetic about it. Plus you're not 20!!! Girl, this video made my little geeky, boho, hippie, artistic heart sing. 😄 Right now I'm living vicariously through you. I'm stuck at home, taking little trips, until I'm released from physical therapy July 1st, but after that I'm heading to British Columbia for the summer. The vanlife scene looks really cool up there so it's calling my name. Hopefully our paths will eventually cross. I'd love someone around my age to laugh and geek out with. ❤️

Oh wow it looks like a rainbow threw a party inside of your van and I LOVE IT! So much color and life! My sweet sister I just want you to know that Jesus loves you so much. In him alone have I found true love, joy and peace beyond understanding. I was in my car the moment I finally prayed and asked him to show me he was real and he did. I pray you will too, I’m praying prayers of protection over you wherever you will go. You seem like such a vibrant and sweet person and I LOVE how you give snacks to the homeless.
