I’m watching mini van rv KZbin getting ideas so that when it’s my turn to build my rv I’ll sorta know what I want. And I just LOVE your RV!!! There are so many ideas that I want to incorporate into mine!!! I love your testimony of how van life saved your life…I am SO PROUD of you. Thanks for your transparency! May our paths cross some day

Love your home but what about cooking? bathroom?
@thetravelingdork5 күн бұрын
Hello! Thank you for visiting and the question! I don't cook on the road. I spent a lot of money on all of the "kitchen stuff" when I first started and found that my eating style is more of a "Grazer" and I was spending a lot of time and effort making meals because I thought it was what you were supposed to do in van life. I eat small amounts through the day - morning fruits/yogurt or toast. Lunch - sandwich/salads/fruit/veggies/smoked salmon etc and for dinner - sometimes a pasta salad or healthy ready made meal from a deli or I will treat myself to a meal out for something like pasta or mexican/thai food because the leftovers last me 2-3 days and the $15 I spend on the one meal - really is $5 a meal because I eat it for a few days. I invested in a little hot logic food warmer that I can put small portions into and heat up my leftovers or I will find a truck stop and microwave it. I work full time remotely and tend to stealth camp in cities more than out in the wilderness when I am doing van life - and I have steady income so I like to support small mom and pop/local shops and businesses when I am in town and it also gives me an opportunity to meet people, have conversations with wait staff, and plug a few dollars into the economy of the area if I dine in a place that is not a big chain or fast food. When I want a home cooked meal, I will treat myself to an Airbnb that has a kitchen and make myself some food to pack into my cooler for the week. :) My bathroom? I have an emergency portable toilet for #2 but have yet to use it in 3 years. For #1 - originally I used a glass mason jar and cleaned it daily but now I have a variety of female urinal devices I use that are much more comfortable. :) I have videos about both of those situations on here somewhere if you want to dig through my videos. Hope that answers your questions! Thanks for asking!

It was super fun building it out and finding all of the fun ways I could add color! I'm a 70's baby - my momma was a hippie and it's apparently in my DNA. ;)

Thank you! It makes such a huge difference to my mental health and general joy in life to surround myself with color!! Sometimes I don't even drive anywhere, I just go lay on my bed in the van and stare at the ceiling and enjoy being enveloped by rainbows. :)

This made my day! It looks amazing but please tell me how did you manage to get the fairy lights up there? Love your van, you are just so clever and creative 🧡🧡🧡
@thetravelingdork8 күн бұрын
Thank you! I got the fairy lights that have a wire so I just wrapped the wire around the corkscrew pins I used to put the ceiling up with. :) It was really easy. I made a random pattern moving from one to the next so that the whole ceiling had some fairy light love.

Was there a stove?
@thetravelingdork8 күн бұрын
Nope. :) I don't cook on the road. I realized it was much easier to just eat simple for breakfast/lunches and often my dinners were raw veggies, smoked salmon or a piece of baked or fried chicken from a deli, fresh salads in bags with some protein thrown in etc. I'm a grazer - I eat little bits here and there through the day so cooking a meal just made it more complicated. I also tend to stealth camp in cities or small towns and I will treat myself to a nice meal at some local mom and pop shop and support a small business while I let someone else make me my dinner and then keep the leftovers in the cooler and warm up what I want to eat in my hot logic while on the road the next day and that one "eating out meal" usually feeds me for 2-3 dinners. I tend to eat fruit for breakfast or yogurt, lunch is basic sandwich or meat/cheese/crackers and dinner depends on my mood. :)

That's so funny I seen those in the stores in St Augustine last summer they're actually collectors items and only get more valuable as time goes on❤ I love what you've done with the van I'm about to do something similar with mine and hit the road.... I wasn't born for the 9 to 5:00.... I was born to play in the dirt and collect rocks and be free❤❤

YES! I got Matt-A-Dor in St Augustine at that little shop! It was hard to choose which one but he just spoke to me. He's still back there, riding around enjoying my adventures with me!

You can add a momentary switch back near the actuator and wire it in to the solenoid. Air up the coach and use it while parked when doing your lubricating maintenance, it works great.

@thetravelingdork8 күн бұрын
HAHA how so?! Curious minds want to know! I actually still have a Y2K pamphlet that was passed out on the street back in 1999 that warned of pulling all of your money out of the bank, stock piling food and making sure you had your babies before the clock turned over if you wanted to have your baby in a hospital vs a dark, no electricity home because the world was going to end!

To keep the heat out in extreme temps, like at Burning Man, I put reflective outside my vehicle windows. Not pretty and certainly not stealth, but it made a big difference. I used a lot of blue tape to hold it on during dust storms and it held. .
