VAN TOUR - VW T6 SELF BUILD CAMPER CONVERSION - Vanlife

Here is a video of my new VW T6 (T28) camper van. Its my first ever conversion and I can not wait for me and my family to start our adventures, all of which will be documented for you guys to watch!!

Pretty much, I started recording videos for my parents to see what we were up to during covid when we couldn't see each other... then people started watching, so I continued to make videos. So kind of an accident 🤣🤣! This weeks van tour is a million miles from this one 🤣

@@Yorkshirepoptopadventures yes please do! may i ask which engine you have and any reliability issues so far? we're planning to buy the t6 lwb diesel, debating between 115 and 150 hp...

@@puresencasapura4878 We have the 2L SWB 115bhp. 115 (unless you are wanting to speed everywhere) is fine, even when fully packed with cabinets, beds and insulation etc.... When we bought it we had the EGR valve replaced as it needed it (under warranty) so just check for that. Apart from that its worked seamlessly (unless its something I have done to it haha)...

Hey Steve, thanks so much. I got the bulbs (the LED daytime running ones) from Halfords in store - I took out one of the bulbs to take in to store so that I got the same fitting so sadly its the only thing I dont have a link for :(

Firstly, thats an amazing KZbin name you have there haha!!! Thank you Irene, It was pretty straight forward ill be honest. Moving the bed backward is something I have wanted to do since seeing that every conversion has a bed thats so far forward there is hardly any living space... I dont need a boot, I have a full van haha

good videos...like them a lot........wanted to ask about changing from van to a camper.at the dvla...any hassles ?...also insurance...what is the difference from a panel van to a camper....i can only think its cheaper for a camper....is it ?..and by how much ?.cheers

Hiya, I'll be honest, its pretty impossible. But it makes no difference to the insurance. As long as you insure it as a camper conversion (Dan at A Plan) you'll be fine. If you pop over to our Facebook page there is a letter from DVLA explaining about speed limits too.

Thanks Benjamin.... mine is a SWB but I pushed the seating (Rock and Roll bed) back to the rear doors to create more living space (I'd rather have more living space than boot space etc) - the pushed the cupboards further forward to create a space at the back for "boot luggage" A lot has changed since this tour so I'm planning a pt2 soon with all the additions like solar, safe, shelves, trackers, speaker upgrades, upgrading the dash... Great video ! …is your van a t28 t6? I’m just looking to get into buying a t5.1 or a t6 , ( van, not camper ) it’s a minefield though, plenty of vans about , but prices are so erratic !!

Ey up, yes its a T28 (2.8 tonne max loaded weight) on a T6 model.... Prices are stabilising but still a little all over the place.

Hi Carol, thank you - I actually got it from a kitchen cabinet maker near Ikea in Leeds - Sadly though they were planning to branch out in to camper interiors but it didn't work for them like they wanted it to. But I managed to grab some of the stock they were selling off before they stopped doing it

Hiya mate, thank you... The band is to help the pop top canvas pull inwards when the lid is closed (stops the canvas getting caught in the mechanism) ;) - they are about £15 from Amazon

Hiya Andy, we fit fine mate, dog goes in the front (in the foot well, loads of room for him and he loves it there) one up top and two downstairs. We have an awning and will use it on longer trips but not for one or two nighters (too much faff 🤣)

If I remember rightly the van was about £13k (with 18k miles on the clock) and the conversion initially cost me about 6k but I have spent more on it since (probably about another 1k) ;)
