I feel so particularly unlucky with my local small stores. The best price I’ve seen on a Weller 12 is $300. Oh well, I grabbed a Clyde Mays 6 year. Happy with it, also wound up trying pipe dream for the first time.

@@BourbonHaul the pipe dream is good for $30! I think I would want to try the cask strength version. The Clyde mays 6 year was a great pick because I feel like there is a lot more rye in it. Also coming in at 110 proof it does 2 great things get me used to higher proof stuff and get used to rye flavor profile. I joined a ‘cask club’ one of my local chain stores offers a bunch of ways to obtain rare bottles at retail price. Got my name on a Michters 10 year. Kinda stoked

I know it is a bit late, but thanks for your great review! In my area, I can occasionally find Weller 12 for $50, but for Lot B, $800 at minimum! lol. I do not think Lot B is $750 worth more than Weller 12, but I cannot comment. Hopefully, I can try Lot B at bars where it is sold at a reasonable price!

Has anyone ever considered the reason companies don’t use chill filtering is because it’s more expensive and increases their operating costs…..imagine a world a where whiskey fiends were tricked by distilleries to believe that non chill filtering “improved” the quality of a product. When the actual reason is to save money. Just commenting on the hoodie….and I’m ready to defend my theory to anyone who comes for me!

Oh I believe it is a money based consideration. And the case that we have been tricked is also a possibility. But I think we may also have been tricked to believe the quality isn’t different if it’s chill filtered or non. And either way it’s because it saves them money. Which is their goal. Get as much profit out of us.

@@BourbonHaul I really don’t know. I read a study on it, and it didn’t really prove much. My only logical assumption would be that it’s for financial reasons….i would prefer every whiskey be NCF but my favorite companies actually chill filter so I don’t know.

@@sideshowonacid yeah honestly I enjoy a lot of chill filtered products. I remember doing a blind between antique 107s regular, store pick, and store pick NCF. The NCF was just better. Now that could have just been the barrel. Who knows. My thoughts are anecdotal so take them with a grain of salt.
