Easy Plastic Repair with the H50 Plastic Welding Gun / Hot Melt Stapler

A repair to my sons ATV fender by the previous owner has failed. There are a few ways I know of to fix a cracked fender; rivets with a backer, zip ties, tie wire or plastic weld. I came across this hot melt stapler and it worked great

Trick is to give it a small twist to lock the staple into the plastic, if you just melt them in you could pull it back out with a little effort.

Good practical demo, Plastic Hot Melt Stapler ,But Not the plastic solder ! I had seen a few demo from Asian country that using SelfMadeDesign plastic Soldering using hot-air-gun and plastic-stick very similar to actual electric-welding with steel-rod .But with metal Spring like hot glue into plastic ( similar to stapler ) will enforce the plastic gap stronger and more robust ! There are a few Car Mechanic using this type of technique to repair Very Expensive Car Plastic CrackLinr for "impossible " repairment ! Thanks for your good video demo .

I’m not sure you’re doing anything wrong. I own 2 of these and have had hundreds of staples through them with no issues. If you do plan on purchasing another one I’d suggest Amazon for the hassle free return policies

I bought this soldering iron and it does not work for me in my bumper the staple is hard to enter and when it enters it does not stay in place when I pull the soldering iron the staple comes out

I have not had this issue with the staples. You maybe could try to spread the ends of the staples a bit to help hold them in the gun

@@Van_City You are right I already tried it on another plastic and if works very well when I glue the staple to the bumper, liquid comes out and the staple does not stay I was checking the material of my bumper and apparently it is Polypropylene material it is a 2003 Corvette

You need to give it a tiny twist and let it cool down for a few seconds before removing the gun.

Bend the staple a few times for cleanup. It snaps off even most of the time

Just imagine how strong it would've been had you turned the staples the proper way instead of across the crack and had given a slight twist before removing gun to lock it under unmelted plastic as it's supposed to be done.

According to the instructions the Staples are going the correct way. As for the twist, someone else mentioned that and it’s a great idea.

@@Van_City the staples are to parallel the crack. Instead,of across it. It gives 4 points across per staple vs 1. And the loops keeps the crack from pulling apart. The only time you turn them is towards end if another full width won't fit. Just explaining proper way. Do it how you want.
