Remember folks, this is a return to the zoning laws that we used to allow in our cities. It’s how we built our strong downtowns. I am sympathetic to some of these old folks concerns about change, but all cities inevitably grow.

Seems like a good idea if housing will be made affordable. NIMBY’s won’t like it. I guess socialism isn’t always appreciated, especially in Vancouver.

alot of people complain about having to live in a high rise,,with very limited space where on earth are the growing numbers supposed to live,,,the only way to go is up...and having 200 apts per block instead of 50 is a win win for everyone...

Bad past foresight! Pay for it now! The city grows, just get with it or move out! Idiots!

This is our weffy premier forcing this on the municipalities - for real. It takes 20 years for a council to plan out neighborhoods with parks, firehalls community spaces etc and to coordinate all that with developers but now they MUST do it in 5 yrs - or else.

The city has added all this new housing but has failed to improve the roads & infrastructure. Our roads keep shrinking, crowded out by inefficient bike loans which hardly anyone uses, except for 5-10% of them. The current mayor/council is doing a poor job of managing the city. The City Manager should be fired and replaced with someone more qualified and competent. Traffic congestion, uncontrolled congestion everywhere these days. The ones in charge simply don't know what they are doing.

How Vancouver develops new housing is so hostile - and the actual housing they allow to be built is also hostile.

Too many underused bike lanes that hardly anyone uses. That's where our roads went.

Where would you build more roads? Translink is planning a subway along this corridor. Transit will be critical for this area. There are no alternatives, other than active transportation, e-bikes and e-scooters and so on

@@Nvwheeler As far as urbanism goes, this is the exact right move.
