Thank you so much for this lovely video! I live in Vancouver and I have to say that this video about Vancouver is the best I have seen and a must for every visitor to watch. Also, thank you for pointing out the area just outside of Vancouver called the Downtown Eastside or DTES cautioning visitors to stay away. Magnifico!

I have been avoiding Vancouver as a cruise port because it seemed pretty hard to navigate around. Your video changed my mind. Will now include it in my list of possible cruise terminals.

Great information guys, I found this video extremely helpful! We've got a Holland America cruise out of Vancouver booked in 2025 and it's always a little intimidating trying to find your way around an unfamiliar city. Gave you a big thumbs up and also subscribed, keep up the good work!

Hi guys, thank you so much for this video! I wish there were many more like this. As an unexperienced solocruiser info like this is more then welcome. Specially because I'm planning for an Alaskan cruise May2024 from Vancouver. Gonna check out some more hotels for my budget in the neighbourhood of the Skytrain, another very usefull tip. See you next time!

If you have the time, ride the SkyTrain (Expo Line) to see various parts of the Lower Mainland. Great views for most of your trip, there's a good reason it's called 'Sky'Train.

US currency is accepted almost everywhere in Vancouver. As with any international city, if you're asking merchants to do the exchange the rates will be the most expensive you'll find anywhere.
@kenneth70276 ай бұрын
I worked in retail in Vancouver since 1975. EVERY business I know of eagerly accepts US currency. They offer a fair exchange rate, you should enquire before payment. Major credit cards offer a good rate, adjusted daily.

I’m glad you mentioned the long (and I do mean lloonngg) wait at the terminal. Line after line. I think a lot of the KZbin cruisers who review it must get priority boarding because I rarely hear it mentioned. Our first cruise ever was out of Vancouver, and it almost turned us off cruising forever. We dropped off our luggage by 12:15 but didn’t get on board until almost 4:00. All standing and shuffling through an interminable line.

Canada has little control over the main bottleneck of the Vancouver cruise terminal; that of the UNITED STATES immigration pre-clearance. Checkin (the cruise line) and security were likely fast, and you stood in line waiting for an understaffed American passport check. If you're an American, I suggest you contact your local Congressman or Senator to encourage them to better fund USCBP

If you're looking for Lyft or Uber pickups downtown, they are prohibited from picking up or dropping at the cruise terminal (we get as many as 16,000 cruise passengers per day transiting, this helps to control the auto traffic). There are blue signs that point to the pickup areas which are [this information current as of April 2024] on Burrard St at Cordova St, and further down (west) along Canada Place toward Thurlow St. When you receive your confirmation, head for the numbered pickup spot. #1 is on Burrard, #2 is on Canada Place.

We are doing a Holland America cruise from Vancouver at the beginning of August. Our plane from NY lands at 11:30AM, and the ship leaves at 4pm. I am a bit concerned that if there is a any delays, we would miss the ship. Is this a bit tight? Should we plan on arriving the day before?

I came upon your video after unsuccessfully looked for parking information in and around the cruise terminal, as I am planning an Alaska cruise originating from Vancouver. My plan is to drive from Seattle and park my vehicle for a week while I am on the cruise. We may spend a few days in Vancouver either before or after the cruise. But searching/clicking through many websites, including the cruise terminal's own website, yielded zero information about parking/parking rates. What gives?
@TravelAddictsLife7 ай бұрын
Hello there, thank you for your comment. Unfortunately being the cruise terminal right downtown there is not many parking lot in the area. Also all the parking lots are meant to be term parkade. The only one right next to the terminal is this one: lots.impark.com/imp?#details=1,525
@linettej928.6 ай бұрын
We live about an hour outside of Vancouver. When we were planning our Alaska trip, we were also frustrated that we couldn’t find parking at the terminal. After checking the alternatives available to us, including Uber and taxis, we ultimately decided to book a spot at the YVR Value Lot (not the park & fly lot). The skytrain (yeah, yeah I know it’s technically Canada Line but we have always considered it synonymous) station is right there. Best decision we made. It was less expensive than parking at the terminal, plus we avoided the awful traffic in downtown Vancouver. Others on the ship who were driven to the cruise terminal talked about how frustrating the traffic was, with the last block alone taking 20 minutes to get through After the cruise, there were long lines & crowds of people waiting for Ubers and taxis. We walked 5 minutes to the Skytrain station and were at our car in a little more than a half hour. Just make sure you choose the Value lot. We don’t like the other long term parking lot because they use valets. We much prefer to avoid letting anyone else drive our vehicle, and we’ve heard there’s no guarantee that your car will stay in that lot instead of somewhere else in the city.

Contact local hotels, especially those near either the Canada or Expo Lines of the Skytrain system. That's generally your best bet

I wish you had shown how to get to the cruise ship luggage drop off area. It looks like you walk down the ramp by the parade. Does anyone know?
@cynthiafeldmann26783 ай бұрын
Hi Bonnie. You walk down the ramp as if you are entering the parkade. An expansive wide sidewalk down there will lead you to the Cruise Ship Terminal. All very well lit, well signed, and before you know it you'll be quickly dropping off your luggage and getting in line for immigration. We are from Vancouver, and our two past Alaskan cruises with Princess had us on board within an hour. I've heard many people say that they have greatly improved the whole process so we are looking forward to a quick embarkation to Alaska in two weeks. Happy cruising!

There is a free shuttle bridge from Canada Place to Capilano suspension bridge, you can take a look here: www.capbridge.com/shuttle-schedule/?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwmrqzBhAoEiwAXVpgoodanckHZlYNVFa33gnZbIghuI5d2qkG2fugSNQVTv0GHEQVb0N1BhoCxw4QAvD_BwE

Two options. 1) FREE - Capilano run a free shuttle from in front of Canada Place/Pan Pacific. 2) CHEAP - take the SEABUS from Waterfront station (3 blocks away); and change onto the 236 Capilano Bus. cost about $4.

Guys its not called Skytrain.. its Called "Canada Line".. Skytrain goes from Vancouver to Surrey. With luggage I would stick with Taxi's its really hassle free. Disney Cruise Lines also sails from Vancouver. Was a good informational video for cruising in Vancouver.. thx guys.

Actually they are both called Skytrain one is the Expo Line (blue) and one is the Canada Line (yellow) 😀
@epicgameztv Жыл бұрын
@@TravelAddictsLife they are operated by different companies.. yes Expo, Evergreen, Millenium, Canada are the line names but only Canada like is run and operated by Protran which is SNC-Lavalin.. yes it all falls under the BC transit umbrella. But the lines are different. For us when you say skytrain.. we think Vancouver, burnaby, surrey. not YVR, Richmond, Vancouver. if you asked for directions to Skytrain they will send you to the wrong line if your looking for YVR. :) compared to saying Canada Line. which is why maybe Canada Line also has its own web site.

@epicgameztv Жыл бұрын
@@Elaines-travels im from Vancouver, i get it.. but what im saying is visitors may not. You really need to use the names of the line.. because Canada Line has 2 stations in Downtown not including waterfront. to say hay go take skytrain and someone goes to Burrard street not knowing they are going to be boarding "Millennium Line" and not even going the right direction to YVR. If the trains shared all the stations i feel yes Skytrain is fine.. but they dont share the same stations and if asking for directions there going to be sent to the wrong station possibly. Its not rocket science, Give proper information that's clear and concise to limit confusion for a Vistor. Not everyone is going to ask the vistor where are you trying to goto to help them better.
