Thank you so much for your time to make these videos. They have given us confidence to at least try the work ourselves before hiring someone to do the work. I check my walls to see if they are plumb, tables & counters I'll check for level. I started drywalling when I was 12, now 49 years later I enjoy watching others looking for tricks or tips I might not know as it is never too late to learn something new. I've been watching several of your uploads the past few days and you are pretty much spot on. I don't know if you'll see this comment months after the video upload but I'll share a couple of tricks for those who will see my comment. Tip 1: Paint transfer from door sides and faces to door jamb & door stops. We've all seen them and had them happen or one day will. Here's how to deal with it in advance or with a known problem area. After your last finish coat has dried spray the door perimeter and jamb/stop area with furniture spray wax like Pledge®. This solves the problem almost every time, works great on closet shelves too to prevent things from sticking to them too. You'll find other uses for this trick as well when it presents itself. Tip 2: You've clear coated a finish on and there are tips/nubs that you can feel more than see caused by dust, an insect, etc. So you sand it and recoated and the problem was worse than before and you have to fix it again. THE NEXT TIME this happens to you try this; use a paper bag, crumple it some and briskly rub it with a light touch, you can add more pressure as needed but DO NOT rub it so fast or hard that you mar the finish. We've simply called this brown-bagging our work. Hopefully, I've just saved many countless hours of time & effort.

Ben. I've watch a lot of you videos. I have been doing drywall for 40 + years, and I can say i like most of your methods which you can consider a compliment. As you know, many drywall tapers have their own methods. They all get it done, but some ways are better than others. I don't think that any tapers will use the same strategies on taping. Keep up the good work.

Thank you so much for doing videos like this. I have just begun my home improvement journey as an empty nesting mom. I discovered that part of the corner bead in a bathroom partial wall between the tub and the toilet had gotten damaged by water seepage over the years and was all rusty. I had thought it was just the baseboard trim that needed replacing but when I took it off I discovered a lot of nasty rust and crumbly drywall. I had never even heard of a corner bead before. 🧐But your video helped me figure out how to fix it and I am very grateful to you. If you want your second bead to line up with your first bead you could use a square(instead of eye balling it), if you are super picky. and it will take the guest work out of everything. Especially if you are doing the baseboard later. That way if you are not doing the baseboard, the person doing they baseboard will be appreciating us drywallers(mudders) that much more..lol

You are a perfectionist! I can relate. I moved to GA and the workmanship in sheet rock work does not exist. Currently working on all my rooms. If I had the money, I would have had all the sheet removed and then shimmed the studs and had new sheet rock installed. Instead, I am slowly squaring my walls, corners and ceilings. In GA, buyer BEWARE!

First time drywall repairer. Elec, plumbing, mechanical, cars, helicopters, I can handle. But drywall is frustrating for me. At the moment I have the exact same problem with the bathroom door entry way. I've cleaned the corner like you did, but what can I use in place of concrete fill (US version) for gaps where the corner bead goes? Half of my L/R ceiling, collapsed while doing the bathroom. Replaced insulation and 4 8X4 sheets of ceiling panel, just needs to be finished and painted. Your video's have helped along every step, from choosing the right mud, tools of the trade, and the confidence to tackle this myself. I'm 77 with COPD and I like to do my own home and auto repairs when I can.

The quick way is another layer of drywall. You will never noticed the height loss with 1/2" or 3/8" and if you're in a big city the wholesaler may have 1/4" drywall in stock. Otherwise you'll end up painting it red with a shotgun.

Nice one! We just are drywalling our top level of our home. However, what we've asked ourselves, how do you deal correctly with mud waste? I've had a professional plasterer doing our home before, he just threw away old buckets with dried up mud. However I think that not very economical and recycling friendly so to say. However I tend to do the same, as I guess washing the buckets out and putting the waste in the toilet is not recommended at all.

Probably just ripping off the old corner bead and doing some minor re-framing

Yikes, just add a stud. On stairs it makes life more easy having your wall extend past the riser. Looks like you might even need two studs. That way your base wraps around to the rest of the room. Just make sure your base is the same thickness as the skirtboard.
