What a beautiful video in paradise! I'd love to have such a collection in a beautiful garden like yours.. but living in Canada, I have to grow my vandas in a south facing window all year long with two humidifiers running 24-7! Not always a 'piece of cake' to keep these plants thriving here, but still possible. 😉 With love and good care, we can do magic!

Yesterday, I went to the Sarasota Orchid Society Orchid Show and I was so excited to see “Krull Smith” whom I discovered through your videos. It told them that and bought a lovely Cattleya from them. Can’t wait to see them again next month at the Venice Orchid Society Orchid Show🤗

Hello from Sarasota Florida! I feel so fortunate to live in an area that orchids seem to love. There’s also a few lovely orchid nurseries nearby.

You are so smart to say as you did in the beginning of the video ...take what works basically. Its so true, isn't it. But I've never heard it said! I live in Clearwater. I'm hoping I have as much success on the west coast as you do in Miami! Thanks for the information!

Another awesome video. Very informative & you made me realize I had to move 3 vanda’s from the south side to the east side. Maybe that’s why they have not bloomed. Thank you.

Blanca, have you ever tried worm castings on your orchids? I am starting to add it every two weeks on my orchids and other plants. We'll see how it goes.

💚 So loving these "vanda care" videos! I grow inside in Sunny 😎 Arizona and mine haven't ever bloomed in my care. They're healthy and from Mote's too! All New Growth but.......no spikes/blooms! Considering using your fertilizer recipe 🤔 Lots of humidity and light in my plant room too! 🤔 Any suggestions? 🤔

Hiiii! Yayyy Im so happy you liked the video. It sounds like they are getting what they need. Water and humidity. As long you see the roots nice and healthy and plant is growing it’s on its way to bloom. If you got them small they may need to mature a little more. Definitely hit them with a good fertilizer every week. Try a bloom booster once a month. Substitute the fertilizer 1 time with bloom booster. Be patient and they will come. Keep me posted 😊💕💕💚

Thanks for your guidance, as always. I’m learning so much from you and my orchids are doing great! Except for one vanda that has rusty colored areas on the leaves. I’m not sure if that’s “normal” or a fungus? It spiked and is now blooming.
@blancasorchidgarden3 жыл бұрын
My pleasure!!! Could be fungus or sunburn. Fungus will often have some type of texture and will be on both sides. Physan 20 works amazing for fungus. Good luck and Yayyyy you have flowers!!

I live in southern Florida also and was wondering if you have trouble with ants destroying your vanda spikes? I am constantly knocking the ants and flying insects off of my vanda spikes and buds. If my spikes are lucky enough to flower, the flower is dark and misshaped and does not last long. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.
@blancasorchidgarden3 жыл бұрын
Oh no!!!! Fortunately I don’t have bugs disturbing my orchid blooms. They do get thrips often which are microscopic bugs that suck the life out of flower spikes and destroy them and if the flower happens to bloom it’s brown and ugly. You might be having an issue with thrips. Ants won’t damage flower spikes like that. I use and recommended a strong insecticide that’s called orthene. It is extremely toxic and strong but works really well. If you decide to use it please wear protective gear especially gloves and long sleeves. Also a mask. I recommend that because it works great but there are other products not as strong in the market I just don’t know how good they will work. Good luck with the pesky bugs. They are such a pain.
