Vanda Orchid Care, How I Fertilize and get my Vanda Orchids to Rebloom

Your Vandas look amazing! Mine are hanging on my accordion shutters also and seem to be doing well. YES!!! I really think that has made a HUGE difference. Well, that and their new location. Try it I got a small bottle on Amazon for $7. Lowes had the same bottle for $10.99. Happy Growing!!

Lovely vanda😍healthy root tips 🤩 awesome flower spike 😊 I love to mount them on trees 🌳 your vandas have a great root system. Let's go for bloom booster which may have more nutritious food to bloom can get more bigger flowers. I hope my vandas also will grow this size one day. Happy growing If possible buy some summer blooming phalaeanophsis like bellina and voilecia which naturally found on trees🎅 and I'm 44 mins late to watch your videos🙄

Hi Blanca Those roots r very healthy!! I stopped using superthrive didn’t see difference but I was told to only use a few drops once a month 😳😳😳. Will try your formula. Maxicrop suppose to enhance root growth also 😳. Yes the temperature fluctuations encourage root spike. Most of my Vanda are in spike 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗.

ana when I purchased the superthrive at a show I was told by orchid growers and orchid supply stores to add a cap full to a gallon of water when I fertilize. So far so good 🤗 i have never tried any other hormone just this one.

I use superthrive daily most days. I put it on the leaves and direct to the roots as well. I use 1 cap full per 2 gallons. I use 12 gallons on all orchids total. I had a super busy 2 weeks that I slacked very badly and they got maybe 2 quick applications. Wow did they suffer. I don't ever do less than 3x per week. I only fertilize 1x per week. I add Epsom salts at 1tsp per gallon along with my fertilizer. My Mother vanda does not stop blooming. As soon as one finishes I have a new spike coming.

the roots are amazing, I was wondering with the sprayer do you put water in with fertilizer or just fertilizer

Sue Wright yes you have to mix it with water. The way the fertilizer spray works is you add the fertilizer depending on the amount of water you want distributed for example if you want 3 gallons you add 3 teaspoons of fertilizer and you fill the water until the number 3 line. When you connect the hose and start spraying that will end up being 3 gallons when all the mixed fertilizer runs out. 😊

The only thing I can say is do a little research about fertilizer ratios. 20:20:20 is packed full with goods and bloom boosters usually have higher P element, if I remember correctly. 20:20:20 already has a very high P value, so I see no point. It's important to have other elements beyond N:P:K, especially Ca and Mg.

😍😍 so beutiful....I love orchids specialy phalaenopsis... I have loss so many bc of roots 😭😭... do you recomend Superthrive to be used on them... I have one with two secondary spike with only a few little roots left. Please help!!

I have been using superthrive on all my orchids. My phals have gotten more roots especially my Minis. I can share a picture with you if you have Instagram 😊 I have not used superthrive with and of my orchids with buds or blooms. I don’t like to fertilize while the flowers or buds are present. I’ve heard flowers won’t last as long so I rather not take the chance 😀🌸

Oh honey, I live in Sunny South Florida! It is 80 degrees out here lol We don't see winter here. If we are lucky we get down to the 60s but that only lasts a few days if we get lucky.

Orchids for Dummies thank you 😊 I have 14 or 15 in hanging baskets (2 of the 15 are in ICU because the sun damaged them 😞 so they are recovering) 6 attached to palms. 😀 they are one of my favorite orchids. Phytohormons /Auxins have a diverse, general promoting effect on the overall development of higher plant species in complex interactions with other phytohormones. @@blancasorchidgarden I don't hate superthrive, I just couldn't see any particular difference with my plants. I'm not really holding my breath that the seaweed will make much difference either but I'll keep you posted. (at least it is cheaper to use seaweed, 32 oz for $15.95 vs 2 oz for $7.50 on Superthrive) 🙂

Oh my Blanquita, your vandas are confused. They think they are growing in a Tropical Rainforest. Lol. You are doing an excellent job. I would not change their feeding routine. This time of year when we have a considerable drop in temperatures from day to night can stimulate them into blooming. You can alternate bloom booster for the 20-20-20 fertilizer once a month. Girlfriend, it is a good thing you stepped up your game with the hose end sprayer. With as many vandas as you have, that little hand pump sprayer wasn't going to do the job. I don't want to see you walking around lopsided with one huge Popeye muscle. Lol. I think I need to look into one myself. It would make life with orchids a little easier.
