Vandal Hearts 2 - Take Turns Hack (Complete)

Many fans of the original Vandal Hearts would probably like to see a similar combat system in the continuation of the cult game (after all, some were disappointed that in Vandal Hearts 2 all units moving at the same time). This modification (Take Turns Hack) allows allied and enemy units to take turns (the classic order - enemies move after the allies have finished their turn). As it turned out, this option significantly complicates the fight.

Многие поклонники оригинальной Vandal Hearts наверняка хотели бы видеть аналогичную боевую систему и в продолжении культовой игры (ведь некоторые были разочарованы тем, что в Vandal Hearts II все юниты ходят одновременно). Данная модификация (Take Turns Hack) позволяет союзным и вражеским юнитам ходить по очереди (классический порядок - сначала ходят союзники, а потом враги). Как оказалось, такой подход заметно усложняет битвы.

Will the hack now be more forgiving when applying to an ISO? I have yet to find an ISO that this hack will work with. Thanks.

It may be more difficult and it may require a lot of protection of the main character, but it looks playable now. Nice.

They should have kept the storyline going with Ash and Joshua with unreal engine graphics fighting in the Holy Vandalier Wars, just thinking about the enemies they would have to fight would be awesome, especially since Zohar was in another dimension for half of his life, they could fight giants or anything. Just wish they kept to this Story-line i dont know why they changed it with that new vandal hearts game, I & 2 were masterpieces.

This isn't working for me. I downloaded the patch, applied it with the PPF thing and burned it onto a disc but the enemies still go at the same time as me in the first battle.

VH2 us not as bad as it’s made out to be. I’m just learning how to play it after initially being turned off and I’m surprised at how into it I’m getting. Having said that, I can’t wait to finish it and try this out too!

I have done the patching as described but it didn't changed anything in the game. Where I can find the MD5 and CRC32 values while using the ppf-o-matic, it provide no information of these while trying to patch.

CRC32 of file can be calculated using Total Commander for example.

​@@MeduzaTeam2009 It took me a while, but I have found a version which worked finally. I should remark it was not a .cue and .bin version, but a .iso version which worked. I understood that it was the game version which was causing the patch not to work, but while using ppf-o-matic, it didn't provide anything related to MD5 and CRC32. Well I guess it don't matter now. A big hug for this mod.

Однозначно интересный хак,но как оно все в деле будет (особенно в ендгейме),все-же игра задизайнена на одновременные ходы? Проходил уже кто в таком режиме ходов?

Любопытно, надо попробовать, хотя я и не был разочарован тем, что персонажи ходят одновременно, это вполне даже неплохая задумка.

Может задумка и не плохая , но весьма недоработанная. Схема поведения компа очень быстро становится очевидной и бои в 90% случаев превращаются в одностороннее избиение. А все эти нелепости с прохождением врага сквозь твоих персонажей и махание клинком по воздуху вызывают лишь недоумение.

For my part i think it's a good idea :) The game is more like i prefer, like Shining force, turn by turn. Really wish you will the last problems you write in commentaries, if we can't protect our hero it will be a big problem to finish game :(

@@MeduzaTeam2009 If I understood correctly you wrote that the enemies can cross our units? If so, it makes it hard to protect the hero, right? Otherwise I don't understand why you write that it makes the game more difficult since, on the contrary, it prevents an enemy from moving at the same time as us to avoid an attack.

@@HuguesFabien The movement and actions of the enemy are very predictable. When both the ally and the enemy are turns at the same time, in most cases, you can easily go behind the enemy and strike, while remaining unharmed. Or, you can protect an ally's back with other heavier allies for the next turn. But when all your units have finished their turn, you will no longer be able to defend ally's or counterattack the enemy. Therefore, it is necessary to competently build tactics from the very beginning of the mission.

I dont know what is happening, i apply the mod to the game file (.bin /.cue), but is not working in the game (the monsters move equal to my characters normally). I'm using a emulator (retroarch).

Does the checksum of the original game image match the requirements in the readme file?

@@MeduzaTeam2009 I use the US version SLUS-00940. But have two other things in readme file that i dont know what is (MD5 and CRC32)

@@OmiBrabo This is a checksum that can be calculated, for example, via the Total commander. And then compare with the required one. If the checksums do not match, then your CD image is not suitable for the patch.
