"Running Back to You" is the lead single from American singer and actress Vanessa Williams' second studio album, The Comfort Zone (1991).
The single became one of the biggest hits of her career; it topped Billboard's Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart for two weeks from October 5 to October 12, 1991 and reached number eighteen on the Billboard Hot 100. A colorful music video, directed by Ralph Ziman, was shot for the single. Williams performed the song on The Arsenio Hall Show in 199

This IS a fire bop! This was the lead single from The Comfort Zone, one of the all-time best RnB albums. This woke people up and let them know that Vanessa was more than a beauty queen, although she definitely served looks and is arguably one of the most beautiful artists of this or any era. This album was a career peak. To this day, I still listen to it from beginning to end. It really holds up well and personifies early 90s RnB. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This song and music video were released in 91, 30 years ago. She is so gorgeous. Those icy, light blue eyes. If you didn't know Vanessa Williams was the 1984 Miss America but they took her crown back when they found out that she posed nude and the photos were published in Playboy after she was crowned. I like the musical production: beats, vocals, bass and samples. I like the jarring, shaking camera work. And Vanessa's fierce acting and being a strong diva. She definitely had a K.O. This song is very empowering. I use the message for my parents.

She created an image of style and sophistication while maintaining integrity in her production. The woman never chased the latest trends, producers, or technology. It may not have resulted in huge sales -ala Save The Best For Last - but Vanessa has a back catalog that screams class.

This song was very good. A fun fact, originally, Vanessa wanted to released the title-track of her first single of ''The Comfort Zone'' album. But the record company choose at the end this song as her first single, because it's was at summer and the record company wanted to released a fun song for the summer. It's was the right choice, consider to this song was a hit (peaked in n.18 in Billboard) and the other hand, the title track, released in her second single, was a limited hit. she was in all the discotheque and dance club with this song in summer 1991. I have ''The Comfort Zone''' a good mix of ballads and RnB and house songs, a masterpiece this album. ''Save The Best for Last'' (the third single of the album) was her biggest hit to date and was the signature song of Vanessa.

I was writing this under your right stuff reaction but the video disappeared! What happened to it? Vanessa Williams is gorgeous, great dancer, great crystalline voice, and good actress. Really the whole package. Embarrassingly I sent away for a Vanessa Williams autograph. And she said one back to me! Meant a lot to 10 yr old me. When I saw her on that right stuff video when I used to watch video soul on BET. I was like woah who is this? That big wild hair and Smokey eye?!?! She was always serving looks!

Always glad to see and hear things I’ve never encountered before! Vanessa Williams’ huge hit Save The Best For Last was massive in Australia, but really none of her other music broke through to us. It’s interesting with the US being such a gargantuan market, that someone can be unknown, or not that successful, outside 🇺🇸 and still be a big star. Same goes for people inside UK/Europe who don’t cross to the US. Artists who are only big in Australia can seem big here, but on a world stage they sometimes don’t make a ripple. Except for the big breakthrough Aussie acts like Olivia, the Beegees, Kylie, INXS, Sia and all, a lot of local talent is only famous for the almost 26 million people within 🇦🇺

A lot of deals/payoffs are made to promote and ensure radio play for songs that are expected to hit big, so when that doesn’t happen, along with lack of press and promo tours (and now online promo like pop-ups, banner ads and clickbait), the releases just don’t register in the market. The songs that break through without label and radio support tend to do so organically, via word of mouth and audience demand

Vanessa got screwed out of her crown by Penthouse in the 80s, but she served up the best revenge: living well. I like to think of her successful career as a middle finger to the powers that were. I always found the timing of those photos to be suspect but our girl rose above. As to all the has-beens in the Miss America corporation, there's an old quote that just can't be used enough: "Well-behaved women seldom make history."

Taking me back to the fall of 1991 again! As a kid, I remember the looks in this video were EVERYTHING. She had a great run of music in the '90s, but her ballads always did better on the pop charts. I think maybe the crystal-clear quality of her voice could just sell a ballad to anybody, and nothing against those ballads. But for example, this firebop charted at #18 on the Hot 100 and most definitely should have been a Top 10 hit, cuz her funky stuff was great. She's an incredible all-around talent.

I can't believe you sang "Heartquake" by heart. Dead. This is one of my favorite early '90s bops and one of my favorite VW songs. She's best known for her ballads but she's one of those artists who could do both uptempos and slow jams (like Madonna, Mariah, and Whitney). She deserved a better/longer pop career.

This album is her masterpiece of lil bit of catchy, nice ballads because she isn't a funky girl musically, no insult she's more in the classical stylings of Sinatra Dean Martin Tony Bennett, and Ella fitzgerald dont believe me, check every effort after this record. Her Christmas CD "Starlight " is amazing 2nd only to Mariah's and Babyface xmas cd's. Plus she was nominated for a TONY AWARD for Lead in 'Kiss of the SPIDERWOMAN' a Broadway musical classic not many minority ladies ever got the Lead, she didn't win but she's still got time. Won a Grammy award for best duo/group single duet with Brain McKight 'Love Is' that was very strange like 93' or 92' over Whitney Madonna Janet Anita Baker what the f'*#@!!! It made absolutely no sense to anybody at all, it was Brian's 1st CD, just a duet while she was 8ths pregnant. Not a bad song, it just wasn't a hit at all, but she'd get nominated again for the Disney movie Pocahontas theme song 'Colors of the Wind.' Nothing special I can't remember if she won that one, beautiful animation by Disney but boring as hell😣🙄 Used2 want to be an art teacher by job-job but somehow find a way being an animator; a fantasy dream. It was y2k 2000 when I graduated teaching college university SHSU* SAM HOUSTON ST Univ. Life took a LEFT TURN Sideways, Now I am retired medically, hey its life.

This song was a huge pop hit but back in the day BET was only played during the day and you could only watch it on VH1, the only black Female artist that MTV played really were Janet and Jody Watley. Vanessa Williams lost her crown because of a nude spread she did with another woman and they tried to ruin her allot like Janet would be treated in the latter. You couldn't be a black female and own your sexuality back then. Look how far we've come because of Janet but Vanessa Williams definitely owned it
