Living between the UK and Ghana growing up its no surprise that Leslie has decided to settle down and move to Accra, Ghana with his wife and welcome kids whilst living in Ghana. But Leslie Abrokwaa's story is far from your average! He has a remarkable story which landed him in prison but which he managed to turn around and go to Cambridge University.

Vanessa, thank you for this wonderful interview. My son is now on this journey, and he has given his life christ. Although he didn't go to prison but he is not where I have visioned him. I raised him as a single mother and sent him to a private school all his primary and secondary, both boarding and living at home. He didn't have a role model and following friends' ideas ,taking substances, and dropping out of university , not even keeping a single job, but God had just rescued him after he left the house and back home. He's on this journey, and my prayer is I see the happy end as his mother and I will. Thank you!

Children don’t understand alot of things so as parents, don’t make them feel like they have to help you without explaining to them how their lives are meant to contribute positively in the world. Even if you are struggling, you need to teach your children the basic principles of life. “You cant steal, you cant sell drugs, you cant do certain things and expect it to be well with you or your mum you want to help. You have to earn the right way.” What you put out there always comes back, they need to understand these things very early. I’m happy this black brother is using his experience to wheel young ones into a better direction. God works in wonderful ways.

we need to emphasize that "fathers in the home" will make the difference.

People have fathers in the house yet they do it and are influenced by all these vices there are many stories where both parents are in their life yet they end up every where. Post code has a lot to do with it.

Well done to this brother for turning his life around after such a start. With God all things are possible. As a father of young black boys in the UK, your story itself is inspiring, and I watched this with my sons. Your story continues to grow and hopefully guide other young boys and girls. Thanks for enabling a space to share this story, Vanessa.

A young king has spoken 🗣️ My dear brother in Jesus Christ well done. You’re truly leading by example and enlightening many souls who need direction. Solidifying our relationship with Jesus is first and all he’s goodness will follow. As we know, not many make it out of “The trap” given to us as hope growing up in London, but we thank GOD you, I and P have been given a clearer vision in Christ, and all we have to remain is obedient. Your outfit is looking CLEAN! 👌🏾 Shining from the inside out 👊🏾❤️

This chap has absolutely blown me away. Sadly, this is the reality on the streets of the United Kingdom and the United States Of America. intelligent, young black boys and girls are being let down by their parents and society. He said something heart-rending, he had to fend for himself, because his mother worked all the hours. Time for parents to start putting their children first, fathers to do everything possible to play a role in the lives of their children and mothers to stop using their child as a weapon to manipulate or hurt an ex-partner. Everybody loses when that happens. Time to start putting our children first. No amount of money is worth the pain we inflict on these innocent children. I wish the young man every success in the world.

Now now, I think it’s terrible for a person not to take responsibility for the things that they do, and to project that the things that they did all the choices that they made were due to the fact that their parents were working hard, trying to earn money to keep the lights on is an excuse. When you do something and you know it’s wrong you need to take responsibility for it that’s you in yourself that wasn’t your parents selling that was you so it’s not their fault that you decided to choose that path because there are many people out there who come from two parent family and their children are doing the same thing. All people who are coming for one parent family and they’re doing the same thing and it’s basically to fit in because other people are doing it so they decide to themselves that they also want to do it, but to blame your parents as to say they actually led you to go and do such a thing that’s terrible. You need to take responsibility for your own mistakes and that was your own mistake and you have to own it. Sorry the truth hurts but as it’s written the truth will set you free.
