Sri Andal has actually completed her Nonbu with the previous verse and this verse is more in the form of a “phalasruthi” - a last verse that describes the benefits that will accrue to a person who devotion follows the work or recites these verses. Vangak Kadal Kadaintha Maadhavanaik Kesavanai EmperumAn churned the Milky Ocean to gain nectar for the dEvaas and PeNNamuthu (MahA lakshmi)for Himself. KrishNan churned the ocean of curd in Gokulam. The Lord, who used the excuse of churning the milky ocean to gain MahA Lakshmi also used the ThiruppAvai nOnbhu as the VyAjam for gaining the Pancha Laksha Kudis (gOpis) of Gokulam. ANDAL addresses the Vangak Kadal kadainthavan as “Maadhavan” and “Kesavan”. She addressed the Lord as “Maadhavan” following the Upadesam of Her AchAryan, PeriyAzhwAr: “Maarvam yenpathOr kOil amaitthu MAADHAVAN yenpathOr Dhaivatthai naatti”. Kesavan is the adhishta Devathai for Maarghazhi month. The reference to the act of churning the Milky ocean (Vangak kadal Kadaintha) by the Lord points out His Bhaktha Vaathsalyam and Omnipotence.

This pasuram tells us that those who chant the 30 verses of Tiruppavai will receive the choicest benedictions of Perumal and Thayar similar to the fruits attained by Andal and her friends. Andal addresses Krishna as Kesavan , one who is the father of Brahma and Shiva , the killer of Kesi the asura who came like a horse. It also indicates one with beautiful hair. Madhavan denotes that He is the lord of Sri who came out of the ocean of milk which was churned by the devas and asuras and Perumal took Kurmavatharam to hold the Mandhara mountain firmly. Perumal ferries the Prappanan across the ocean of samsara to Sri Vaikuntam. Andal who identifies Herself as Bhattar Piran Godhai of Srivilliputhur who was adorned with Tulasi beads and lotus garlands and offered flowers to Vatapathrasayi daily. This garland of 30 verses in beautiful Tamil offered to the handsome Lord with four hands will confer happiness on earth and Eternal Bliss and servitude at Sri Vaikuntam.
