It takes a VW enthusiast to look at that "green" bus and say it's in good shape. I love it!

In the US you can still find those type of junkyards. Not sure why we don't have them here.

30 years ago in the UK you could go to any scrap yard and find VW campers/Beatles. Not any more.

6:05 - is that AC? Nope, just a fresh air vent. On factory microbuses fresh air is ducted through the front door arm rests and out through those vents into the back. Panel vans didn't come with that.

Why did you not just buy a better quality van? If your long term plan is to camp and travel in it, you should have looked for a westfalia equipped model. Cutting and patching a rusted hulk is going to cost you the same money in parts alone, and you’re going to spend hundreds of hours doing it. Only to have a patched van that future buyers can spot a mile away.

The piece that I cut out has no rust on the part that I need.
@rozinant12379 ай бұрын
I have restored several of these and it makes more sense to buy a running driving westfalia that you can go camping in tomorrow. It’s still going to require a hundred side projects to get it nice but at least you and your gf can use it every weekend instead of waiting a decade before even using it. Yes, a nice medium quality van will cost you 15K or more, but get a loan and a side hustle, you’ll spend far less of your spare-time hours and have something you can use immediately.

Hey, buddy....some of idiots enjoy the process! My bus rode just fine when I bought it and I'm thousands of dollars away from getting it that way again, but I'm in love with every step of its progress and renewal.
