Vangoa 5-string open-back banjo review.

In this video, I review the Vangoa 5-string open-back banjo. For full disclosure, Vangoa sent this instrument to me for review, at no cost to me. The neck on this instrument is solid maple and the hoop is laminate maple. It has excellent build quality with only a couple of very minor finish flaws. If you are looking for a good-looking open-back banjo, this is definitely one to consider.

Looks to be a nice open back starter. I like the manual being included with the accessories. Nice banjo.good review, Steve. I do the sock stuff gig too, so not to drive my family crazy with beginners banjo me.

I really like the aesthetic of a blonde wood banjo. They just look really nice. This seems to be a pretty good starter kit. I like that it comes with all the tools and accessories.

Hey Steve. I was sent the same one and I wanted to tell you to be careful with the strap on those hooks because mine just fell out. I then decided to hook the strap just to the regular metal pieces. And also I had that weird sympathetic vibration and did the same you did Also I had the bridge backwards. And it’s been a great instrument to teach myself clawhammer. I bet you would do well with that style. I am using a book called “clawhammer for the complete Ignoramus “ and I love it !! Nice review and that’s cool how you tuned it. What did you tune the drone to?

Hi Steve, thanks for posting this review! I was hoping I could get your opinion on this Vangoa vs the Aklot open back that you also reviewed? They both seem quite similar. I like the fret marker ascetic of the Vangoa a little more, plus the closed gears, and the bag seems a little nicer. It’ll be my first banjo either way, thanks for any input.

Hi Jordan, Both these instruments would serve you well. I agree with you about the fret markers. I also prefer the positioning of the armrest on the Vangoa. Because of that, I suppose I prefer the Vangoa over the Aklot. Thanks for watching and commenting!
