Vangoa Concert Ukulele VU603 Review
Vangoa have sent me this lovely looking ukulele to review as it has recently been released. I have seen the company "Vangoa" around on Amazon for a few years but have never played one of their ukuleles. This model is Acacia (laminate) with a slotted headstock and abalone rosette.
Vangoa asked me to review but certainly did not tell me what to say about the ukulele, this is my own opinion of it.

I have a Vangoa 5-string banjo, pretty decent instrument for the price although I had some issues with the fifth peg. But I generally quite like the company. I'm sort of interested in one of their mandolins although I don't hear great things there.

Looks fairly nice, anyone can cut corners and have a boxy, straight saddle and straight line bridge pins/slots/ tie bar. Bone appointments, abalone rosette, really nice looking tuners 😯👍. The logo will be lasered-in. We’ll agree to disagree on slotted headstocks….. I don’t get too fussed about laminate Vs. Solid, unless it’s claiming to be ‘premium’, it’s all about tone, sustain and sound. I’ve got a zebrawood laminate uke that’s quite clearly ‘ ‘B’ Stock’, but with a low G on it it just comes alive and is easily my best sounding Uke, beating some others that cost waaay more than it did. If it’s on the cheaper end then I’d consider putting in a top sound port to increase volume for the player😎👍

@@UkuleleWales definitely a Dremel style tool for putting in sound ports - it can drill and sand/grind. Just gotta reach inside the sound hole and feel for where the kurfing finishes on top and bottom before you pencil the hole dimensions on the outer sides - cutting through kurfing will leave an UGLY sound port 😖🫣

Attractive uke with a nice pack of accessories. It would serve a beginner well or equally as well a carry around for unexpected opportunities to play a bit. It does have bright cheery tone. It could also be a "loaner" for someone who wants to see if they would like to learn ukulele, coupled with your beginner tutorials.

I’ll be honest, I know very little about the 8 strings as I have never bought one. I would highly recommend contacting www.southernukulelestore.co.uk/ as they will offer great advice. The other place to try would be World Of Ukes”. Hope you get the advice you need. 👍
