Love the concept and the reflection of how the girl is the dog. And how she will follow the same path if she doesn't stand up for herself and set her self free. Which she did when taking off the leash that bounded the dead dog to the tree that was her breaking the cycle she would have lived. Nice job and loved the animation

The sad part is the fact that the dog probably tried running away from the tree as much as possible, because the leash was digging into the tree. It probably did that everyday trying to get free and just one day gave up from being so hunger and then died.

The leash was smaller than the tree because the tree had grown around it, but yeah I see what you mean. I liked the bite marks near the base.

every living creature will die first from dehydration long before dying from hunger. For example, a human can live a little more than a month without any food. But in 6 or 7 days, he will be dead without water. An horrible painful death.

I've spent a lot of time in dog rescue, nothing makes me more sick to my stomach then seeing a dead dog on a leash/chain. The short shows the end product but I cant help but to think of the time in-between and my heart shatters.

Likewise, but this really hurt my heart because the owner played with the dog, leading it further and further into the woods,before tying it up. He NEVER intended for the poor dog to be found. That was twisted on a whole new level of evil.

Everything about this was perfect! I felt so sad about the dog... Way to bring tears to my eyes. Also the lighting, the sound, the animation was gorgeous. I had goosebumps during most of it!

I like how the leash is so long lasting even the tree was affected by it, it survived even years after dogs death. If you don't untie it, it will follow you forever..

I like this saying and it makes sense the leash was so long and it seemed ever lasting maybe a meta idea for it was that so many people were tricked and left to die like the poor dog but some people like the girl decided to untie it and ripe themselves away from this torture

I saw this short film as a child and now that I watch it I realize the meaning. Basically the dog was showing the story on how people change and use you they’ll soon abandoned you! Not only that but it seemed the dog and the girl were bound to find each other. The dog was trying to tell her on how they don’t care about you even if you listen to every word they say, or you obey there every command like a ‘Dog’! So she did what we should’ve done in the first place disobey them or not let them use her like the poor dog. Props to her for breaking the cycle!😊😊😊😊

I can't explain all the things I like about it but in short: the design, the concept, the comparisons between the dog and the girl, It was all beautifully done and a great introspection of how her being bullied was making her as starved for attention and praise as the dog was. I'm probably reading too much into it but still, well done!

@@foongern1071 Probably why he was so threatening towards her. Forced to deal with the delay of the return of the ball alone, I imagine he'll be a little more apologetic with the rest of the kids. After all, they all can probably hit him back as hard as anything he can dish out.

Masterfully animated and storytelling. My heart hurt seeing the remains of the dog but at least the girl set their soul free while realizing how poorly treated she truly is by her schoolmates.

The sad thing is that there are some people who actually do this to their own pets. It's heartbreaking. A pet is a living being with feelings and a soul, and you cannot take one in just to abandon the poor dear after. It's not just cruel. It's evil. I hope the poor dog's soul found peace thanks to this compassionate girl.

If the owner was allowed to do it, this is what can happen. Did the other kids seem bothered by how the boy (Lloyd?) treated Lyra right in front of them just because he could easily beat her up? They were bothered when he threw the ball out of bounds after acting like a show off, but when he took it out on Lyra and had her go retrieve the ball for him, that was neither here nor there. If something didn't change, she would have ended up dead after her tormentor beat her into a bloody coma and no one called an ambulance because they didn't think it was called for. Ask a dog to be human, and it won't know what to do. Lyra has hope that poor dog didn't...

This film beautifully symbolizes what it's like for people to be treated like pets. Be it this girl, or a child in a bad home. I love how she burns the leash symbolizing her becoming her own person. I see people wishing the boy harm, but that is not the purpose of the video. Yes, I dislike the boy a lot, but instead of wishing him pain, I focus on hoping the girl a better start.

Probably gonna be pain for him to lose Lyra as a source of personal validation one day. If he could just stand on his own when facing his insecurities like everyone else, he wouldn't be doubling down on bullying Lyra. With her gone, he either faces those challenges or just suffers for failing to do so, also just like everybody else.

Her desire to belong and please others was the red ball. She followed the red ball into the darkness at the will of the other kids who told her to. In that darkness, she saw the dog, which was herself, being bound by the whims of others and she would never truly be free and wither away if she always tried to please them. That's why, at the end, she left the ball sitting there and walked away because she wanted to be free and decided that she was worth more and didn't deserve to have her personality and freedom destroyed by what others want.

I liked how that the girl didn't give up in the end . I know that she was so fraid in the forest and also crying and I will be the same like her as you are not in a safe place you are in the forest and I know that the forest is not a safe place for any human but............that doesn't mean that I should give up in a hard something . You should try to help yourself and don't ever give up in this if you want to be alive in the end that's my letters to you and too everyone. Like the creator of the film tell us anyways about the film it was so fun that I watch a something like this . That have to deserve 1 billion and alot as the film is so cool . Wow. This was a really impressive, beautiful short you guys made, certainly was worth my time! :) My favourite part was the sound design - at times, I found the music really nerve-shredding and anxiety-inducing overall, especially when she was in the woods, and it had this effect despite me being wholly confident the spirits would not actually harm her and that there'd be a NON-Brothers Grimm aesop with character growth for Lyra at the end of it. :) The dog's ghostly sounds were likewise haunting in the setting, especially with their echoic effects, and again they managed to unnerve me even when I was confident the dog spirit was ultimately harmless. The art was GORGEOUS with the styles and the colour, especially in the woods. :) :) It has a real... sort of old-fashioned 2D-animation feel to it, but it still feels really vibrant this entire animated world does. :) :) The spirits and the wisps were beautifully animated, so ethereal yet unique in your style. :) I also love the rather big use of metaphors with the dog, the colour red and Lyra's bow and what happens at the end. :) (Jeez, that poor freaking dog. :() Beautiful work on your part. :) :) :)

And where are the parents/teachers? I guess that's why I didn't have friends in school. I stood up for the weaker kids and had too many enemies. I was often picked on and quiet. The teachers stood by and did absolutely nothing but even tho I went home crying most days I still stood up for what was right. Now today looking back I'm glad I did. I'm a bit disappointed that we not see the girl standing up to that horrible boy. Or for the boys, since the others were conivent with him. It must have been hard to escape from that gang, and grown-ups rarely help.
