Awfully kind of you... thanks a lot! In "Ancient Music" there is often a lot of musical humor. We don't always "get it", maybe because sometimes we take Classical Music too seriously. But composers and musicians liked this kind of thing, like quoting a few bars of another piece. All the best!

@@harukokorneel6585 I bought a g-violone and am really enjoying it. I have already played with our gamba group - those low notes add so much to a consort. I may also buy a small UB in the future - I need the shorter string length. Keep recording please!

Thank you very much, I enjoyed listening and seeing both of you playing. Is there any relation with Boccherini's concerto for cello in G ? Am I wrong if I recognize the theme of the 1st movement from Boccherini concerto in the beginning of Vanhal concerto ?
@harukokorneel65854 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for your comment! Apart from the dotted rhythm descending cascade i don’t really hear many similarities between the two concerti, and such formulas were in themselves not all that original: within a classical harmonic and melodic framework, they are bound to pop up in several works that are quite unrelated. Then again, composers would freely borrow each other’s ideas. I doubt, however, that there is a direct influence here. Thanks for the remark, it was a reason to listen to Boccherini once again :-)

@@harukokorneel6585 Thank you for your fast answer and your explainations. I wasn't enaugh aware of this common formula in music for strings of the classical period.

So incredible! The link to the original manuscript does not seem to be working. Do you know where I might be able to find it? I'm trying to do some research on this work and it would be so helpful to me. Thank you, and once again I really enjoyed your performance!
@harukokorneel65854 жыл бұрын
Dear Lindsay, first of all many thanks for your nice words... i just checked and the concerto is still there, on the IMSLP site. I don't know why you can't seem to make the link work. Just try imslp.com and go from there? Also, on the viennese-tuning.com website you can find my book "Meta Hodos", which contains a lengthy analysis and a technical explanation of the Vanhal concerto. I hope that can help you with your research. Good luck, take care, enjoy life!
@harukokorneel65854 жыл бұрын
If the link doesn't work directly (there does seem to be something strange going on there) just type "imslp vanhal" or "imslp vanhal double bass" in your browser and you should get there. Ganbatte kudasai!

Hi, great performance and great channel, subscribed immediately. Could you please give all of us your point of view about famous ditterdorf bass concert in eb major? I'm approaching the concert in viennese tuning, and i find some bow strokes really hard to execute. Above all in the third mvt. Thanks in advance!
@viennesetuningchannel61015 жыл бұрын
Ciao Alessio, thanks for your nice comment. In my upcoming book "Meta Hodos" there will be a lengthy explanation about Ditterdorf, amongst others. Publishing date is early december... As to the bow strokes, since there are almost no articulations indicated in the manuscript, you can feel free to fill them in yourself. The score is not meant to be played exactly as written. That means, you have a lot of freedom in arranging the bowings and articulations as you want, as long as you stay in the Classical style. For the moment there is no Dittersdorf video planned, but i might do one next year. In the meantime, feel free to make the bass part easier to bow!
@alessiorinaldi73655 жыл бұрын
@@viennesetuningchannel6101 thank you! I'll follow your advice, this tuning is really interesting and the gut strings, being so sensitive, made me rethink about bow hold and body weight on the right arm. Keep working on these sources. By the way, useful. See you!

When i was pursuing music i played this with an orchestra i was principal bass. I think i made the correct choice to stop taking it serious and do a different carreer. This is not good. The bass playing is dorky and gut strings sound bad on bass. No objective rating system. Good riddance
