Just a reminder that the drink drive limit in Scotland is zero, you can’t have any alcohol and drive your car. The distilleries will give you a drivers travel pack so you can take your tasters with you and enjoy them later. Great video

Sorry but you are incorrect about the drink drive limit it isn’t zero it’s 50 milligrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood compared to Englands 80 milligrammes although i understand where you’re coming from

No true. Why did you make that up?
@heatherdoyle2175
@heatherdoyle2175 7 ай бұрын
@@HibeeMcbeeTechnically you are completely correct it is 50 milligrammes of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. As a visitor to Scotland you are unlikely to have a breathalyser and less likely that is set to the Scottish setting which is stricter than the rest of the UK. Additionally the level of alcohol permitted is so low in Scotland that most responsible drivers just don’t drink and drive. For visitors it would be easier and safer to assume that you can’t drink and drive.

I am glad that you enjoyed our dear country. I was born and raised here in Glasgow, I'm a photographer, whilst I have never been to places like Ullapool or the Isle of Skye, I know the scenery up north for sure is quite spectacular. No worries about that view you got though with the low cloud and rainy weather, if anything, it makes it dramatic. An Ancient Greek philosopher scoured the West coast shores and labeled Scotland 'Skotos,' meaning 'The Land of Darkness,' even the Vikings who feared and respected the mainland found in their sagas in Iceland described the country as dark and gloomy with the weather. This gives you a sense of the meaning that although thousands of years have passed, you lived the experience they once had. I must say, tourists tend to flock to those places, and I noticed you missed out two of Scotland's key iconic heavily touristy destinations in Stirling which is the Castle and Wallace Monument, but what a lot of tourists miss out is the East of that there is Castle Campbell. Whilst I am not sure Castle Campbell is open currently, it takes you way up into the hills and the viewpoint of the castle and overlooking the land is truly spectacular. Stirling is also home to Bannockburn; the famous battlefield where Scotland won it's independence. Add to that, one must not forget to add in the fact that currently there is a project to build for the first time in over 2,000 years, a Pictish Broch settlement, they're planning on doing this in Caithness with the original building technique, so whenver they achieve that, that is definitely something tourists would wish to see. There's even dear Rabbie Burns stuff to the southerly part of Scotland; his cottage to the West, as well as Ellisland farm where he spent most of his working life on the farm and Dumfries where his mausoleum is and house he sadly passed away at such a young age. There is a lot that tourists would probably miss out, i.e; Plodda Falls that I recently photographed, which is a 151 foot drop waterfall nearer Eilean Donan Castle, as well as a long 3 hour hike and 3 hours back, the Falls of Glomach. To the West of Glasgow, Largs, the famous location and last standing battleground where the Scots defeated the Norse Vikings, the museum there tells you all about that. Even the Orkney Isles has ancient Pictish remains and they hold a Viking festival there every year. Nonetheless, for what you guys experienced in the time you were here, you saw a lot and you certainly looked like you's enjoyed it, happy for you's and you's are certainly more than welcome here in Scotland.

STIRLING! Stirling is an absolute must. And historically so important! The National Wallace Monument, The Church of the Holy Rude (where infant king James was crowned), the Stirling Castle, the Smith Museum, our University (University of Stirling) which has a castle and a loch and some amazing art in the Pathfoot building (it was also an Outlander shooting location), the city space with its libraries, cafes, and amazing restaurants ❤

@@vanhallaadventures The little fishing villages in fife are really nice. You could also maybe visit Aberdeen, or if you're adventurous you could go to orkney, shetland or even st kilda! There are lots of beaches in northern scotland that look like they're from the Caribbean, but it's just because the water is super clean. It's still very cold though :( You could visit st Andrews if you like golf, or maybe do a tour of haunted stuff here like old castles

I loved hearing the bagpipes when I was a child, but didn’t visit until 1993, when I first glimpsed Scotland through slightly grimy train carriage windows, en route to Inverness from London. Even then, I felt like I’d “come home”, a feeling enhanced the more I travelled around your beautiful country. I was able to return a further four times, the last in 2018, (pre-Covid, thank goodness!), but might have to rely on my memories and virtual travel from now on, as live in South Australia, so it’s a bit of a long and expensive trek to get there! My favourite trip is up the Cattle Pass, to Applecross, returning via Kinlochewe - absolutely stunning scenery!

Thanks for sharing. Looks like you had a lovely trip. The little cottage in the highlands looked beautiful. We were in Scotland for 2 1/2 weeks last month and late April. The gorse was blooming all over the country very spectacular. We also got caught in the rain at the Fairy Pools which were a beautiful place. . It took 3 days for our shoes to dry out. We were lucky we had only 2 days of rain the entire trip. A little bit of rain on the Isle of May which was amazing and I would highly recommend. So much fun to see all the puffins and nesting birds on the cliffs. We managed to spot 78 species of birds in Scotland which was fun. And the Kelpies were great to see. It was our first time to see this beautiful country and we are looking forward to coming back. Enjoyed the lovely video. Greeting from Florida.

@@vanhallaadventures Yeah it’s probably because the accent changes about every 5 miles you travel here 😅 However if you want to avoid offending our entire population, Edinburgh is pronounced like “Eh-din-bruh” and as for Gaelic names, I wouldn’t even try pronouncing them as a foreigner 😂 Also please don’t drink drive here since we have a zero tolerance policy so even having a tiny bit to drink then driving is breaking the law and can get you into some serious bother. You don’t want to sour your trip by getting what you’d call a DUI. Not sure where you intend on travelling this time but Glasgow (Pronounced Glas-go) also has some cool stuff to see. Stirling and the Wallace monument is also a really interesting thing to see. Hope you have a good trip 😄

@@vanhallaadventures Sorry for digging at you but |I've worked with a lot of people from the US & other parts of the world & I'm always correcting them and before you jump on me (LOL) I always try to get the names of places I've visited pronounced correctly bit of a thing with me 😇

Please please learn to pronounce the place names, the video was great but as a Scottish person it's disappointing to hear the majority of the place names pronounced wrong. ATB Chris

For discussion and feedback only: I was born in Ireland and know the island well. Sadly have not yet been to Scotland but everything I see and read, seems Scotland seems to have a major edge over Ireland in so many respects. But, it seems Ireland captures the foreign imagination in a way Scotland never has. I would enjoy sharing opinions on this/

I've been to Ireland many times in my life. I'm a Scot. My Granny was Irish. It's a lovely country. I travelled all around. Its very green!! The scenery in Scotland has a huge variety from mountains, glens, lochs and the most beautiful beaches to rival any in the world. Scottish people are very friendly you would be most welcome. Do come and visit.

The vegan 'pie' looked like Mush. I notice you didn't comment on that. 🤣 But it looks like you got the best of the weather when it was here, briefly. You got lucky.

wound up being the 57th person to smash the 'like' button and, get this, our Eagles football team was in the 57th Super Bowl this year. (we didn't win after a nail-biting game, but still!) Loved watching this. So adorable, beautiful and totally awesome job editing, etc. production, wow!

The Elephant House is closed, due to a fire. Edinburgh has a wonderful art museum, and it's FREE! Then there's the National Museum of Scotland, Rosslyn Chapel just outside Edinburgh, St. Giles Cathedral, Victoria and Cockburn Streets, and so much else. I'd like to say a word in defense of Fort William. The railway station makes it a convenient base to see other areas, plus there's a couple of grocery stores, a pharmacy, a bookshop, and more, in case you need to resupply yourself or pick up some medications. It also has some nice walks, and Ben Nevis, if you're up for some serious hill walking. The Bistro at The Alexandria Hotel has the best Yorkshire Pudding.

Wonderful insight. The rose bushes at Balmoral castle reminded me of the same roses we have in Cyprus. We make rose water from them and the best rose water is found in a village up in the mountains called Agros ❤

Judith byerly If or when you visit BONNIE SCOTLAND, i would recommend you don't get sucked into trying to see 'everything' in one visit.. There really is so much to see, regardless of area you choose to explore.

I was born and raised and worked in Scotland. You do not have to drink if you don't want. However allow those who do want to taste our famous drink to do so and enjoy. Perhaps you should have a wee taste of Whisky. Give it a try you may find you like it.

Wow! What a fantastic video - the first one to be really informative and entertaining at once! You are such a sympathic couple! My girlfriend and me want to travel Scotland this year and this really helped to get a great idea where to go. As we thought about the nc500 for a long time your trip makes more out of it. And... What a luck of weather you guys had! Did u film the whole ego perspective with a normal digital cam? The quality is brilliant! I haven't read the deccribtion yet but if you are so kind can you share the trip route with me so i can go plan from there. Cheers from Germany and all the best to you guys! Keep on making videos! I liked your video, but, as a Scot nothing grates my soul more than calling Edinburgh "Edinboro" its pronounced "Edinburra". The pub the Ensign Ewart. The Ewart part is not "E-Wart" its pronouced "U-art" and there is a statue of the guy on the castle esplanade. Always love videos of my home country and yours was excellent
