This trip was a dream come true for me (Crystal). My mother always fashioned her gardens after the English Countryside, I LOVE Shakespeare, and all things historic and old...a weekend in the Cotswolds was BEAUTIFUL to say the least. HAVE YOU VISITED THE COTSWOLDS BEFORE? If so, what is your favorite village or place to visit? Thanks for watching ✌🏻

in the UK most foods are VAT (tax) free, unless you eat inside a cafe or any establishment then you are charged the standard VAT, also take away food is VAT free unless its hot then you pay tax. The idea is to help those struggling on a budget to be able to buy the essentials like food and children's clothes tax free, great videos
@seanmc135110 ай бұрын
your wrong< fresh food, like meat, veg and fish fresh are tax free, children clothes are tax free, these are deemed to have a short life span, children grown out of clothes quickly, adults clthes are taxed, take away food served hot is taxed, there is tax on fish and chip take away, hence the hi price from what it was,

Fine video! Shakespeare is pretty good, and in my weaker moments I sometimes feel that I could hardly have written better myself. However, since Chaucer and Shakespeare with their lack of proper grammar and spelling, countless pedagogues and civil servants have now contrived to improve the language so that it is almost unrecognisable from these early forms! To see how English should be written, look at any Government communication! ;-)

Crystal I am very curious about the costs. Rental car etc. do you buy travel insurance in case of medical problems?
@vanhallaadventures Жыл бұрын
Great questions! I’ll get back to you on rental car price…I can’t quite remember. We bought travel insurance for our entire UK trip (for Scotland treks as well) plus a trip to Iceland (blog on that coming within next 2 weeks) and for 2 months it was $450 for 2 of us. I think a much shorter trip would be significantly cheaper. We’ve been looking into more travel insurance companies and comparing different options. Actually I think that would be a great video to make - comparison of options and what one may offer another doesn’t, best for medical versus general…I’ll keep the channel updated once I feel like we know enough to recommend something or just offer our findings.

@@vanhallaadventures I lived there for a few years, being Cotswold born and bred. I've known plenty of British people mispronounce it. I'm sure I'd mispronounce place names from your neck of the woods given the chance! Thanks for the reply.

The VAT, the tax on eat in food was brought in quite a while ago, , it did at the time price some food out, It not just on eat in food the tax was put on take away also, food that is served hot, Someone mentioned, it was to help the less well off, to buy childrens clothes, that is also wrong When the tax came out, people tried to get round it, by selling fish and chip for 1p and charging 5 piounds for salt as there is no VAT on salt. There are many things that do not VAT the tax, fresh produce, childrens clothes there is no tax, as these are deemed to have to shorter life span, kids grow out of clothes, adults clothes do have tax.

Please don't be offended, as I loved your presentation of my home, however the pronunciation of the region is the wolds,, take the word old and add the w, as in cold,fold, bold, told. Truth be told I'm surprised the locals you must have met did not mention this. I beg you both not to be offended, it was not my intention to offend. Once again please accept my thanks for the hard work involved in the production and editing of this presentation.

No worries! We have come to realize that England and Scotland are VERY sensitive to pronunciations. No offense taken!

People with different accents and languages pronounce things differently, I wouldn’t worry about it. I grew up in the Cotswolds and don’t care what people call it, as long as they’re happy.

@cmcc3721 well my village between Leeds and Selby is 99% white, granted there are two pizza shops in village but the muck that run them come from leeds somewhere. There is two corner shops run by Indian families and two black families out of 8000 residents. If we go east and north from me it is a minimum of 95% white until we hit York and Hull. If I go west then yes it's totally different.
