Thanks for sharing this. I sent a comment to Mark Stein one time about an experience I had in 1984 when I played Renaissance and Near The Beginning for some college kids in Wyoming. They immediately said that they could see where Pink Floyd got their inspiration. I'm glad to see younger people getting into this music

Happy Thursday Chod and Dee! Hope y'all are doing well over at your end. Great reaction to Vanilla Fudge. They were best known for doing a cover of "You Keep Me Hangin' On" but you might be familiar with the drummer Carmine Appice for number of reasons...he played the drums for Rod Stewart from 1977-1981 (which y'all did a reaction to "Hot Legs" not too long ago) and also he played drums for Ozzy Osbourne, Jeff Beck (along with Tim Bogert who is the bassist for Vanilla Fudge as well), Catcus (another band he and Tim were together), Rick Derringer (who's best known for "Rock & Roll Hoochie Koo"), Blue Murder (one of many 80s supergroup rock bands) and King Kobra, among others.

What a treat! There are other psychedelic groups, but no one sounded like the Fudge. The following track “Where is Happiness” on this album is meant to be played immediately after, as there is no break in between. It flows naturally!

Carmine Appice, legendary drummer, played drums for this band.

I'll give you my reaction. At the height of the 60's. Flower power, psychedelic, far-out man, kind of music.

When i was 15 years old, i saw them at a skating rink in Merritt Island Fl. They were a great live band. Then in 1970, i found out the bass player and drummer formed a band called Cactus, and i loved that band!!

Try the Nancy Sinatra Lee Hazelwood version… it’s a cool version very haunting with their arrangement

And their version also happens to be the original. He wrote the song.

Lee and Nancy 's original was truly a classic. Then Vanilla Fudge turned it into a totally cosmic progressive rock epic! Gotta love how they transformed other artists songs and turned the songs in a different spacy direction. A shame the R&R Hall of Fame does not recognize their brilliance.

Saw them live in 1967 Montreal (open air at night). They do/did covers of Beatles and many others. Ticket to Ride, You keep me hangin' on (Supremes) , Season of the Witch (Donovan), Shotgun (Junior Walker & the All Stars). To name a few.

It's very good but half of it is "Break Song" which is a long instrumental with each member getting a solo. I like the album right before it, RENAISSANCE, more. It is song-oriented and shows that the band could write good songs.

One of my favorite "obscure" albums. Some Velvet Morning was written by Lee Hazelwood, who I believe also wrote/co-wrote " These boot's are made for walking" Vanilla Fudge was great at taking other popular songs and giving them a psychedelic spin. Nice reaction 😀🤠👍

About Vanilla Fudge...abbbbbbbsolutely necessary to listen to their cover version, live at The Ed Sullivan Show in 1968, of the song "You Keep Me Hangin' On" !!!.....(original version belongs to The Supremes - 1966). For a drummer it is a MUST !!!!!!!

Yeah! Now you have to do 'You Keep Me Hanging On', there very best and an Ikonic song. Enjoy. 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
I have not heard this version until now. Lee Hazlewood wrote this song and sang it with Nancy Sinatra. Their version is a lot different than this one. You might like Lee Hazlewood voice.

This is very nice! Definitely giving me a 60's vibe. I think I remember this song back in my college days but didn't know who sang it.

Chod! Right out the box…. Your t-shirt, The Greatest, is…. The GREATEST! Grew up watching all his fights and just saw Ali with Will Smith like last week. Now, you must buy your beautiful wife some real fudge! I saw Vanilla Fudge live too many years ago. They were such a trippy band, which was just so perfect for the time. Haha! The ‘drinking water’ was spiked with Owsley acid.

I prefer the Primal Scream/Kate Moss version, but that's probably because it's the one I heard first. I didn't know it was a cover (just like the Vanilla Fudge version is) until many years later.

Hey folks. G'day from Australia. I just finished listening to their album. " The beat goes on" it's totally psychedelic and weird. My brother bought this album in 1970, and I haven't listened to it since then. Have a listen to it.

I thought I'd suggest some more songs by "Starship - Sara (Official Music Video)" and "Jefferson Starship - With Your Love (Video editado)" this is from their third album released in 1976, a year after the chart-topping "Red Octopus (album) it quickly scaled the charts peaking for six consecutive weeks. Alot more beautiful music to give a listen🎶

The Fudge were one of my favorite bands in the day In late 1967 i saw them when i was 14 years old. That drummer and Bass player were a great rhythm section. In 1970 Bass player and Drummer had a band called CACTUS, Again they became a favorite...in 1973 they teamed up with the late Jeff Beck to form Beck/Bogert/Appice Vanilla fudge were known for there unique ways of covering popular songs...You should hear there Cover of the Beatles song Eleanor Rigby, it is KILLER....But another Eleanor Rigby cover from 1972 by a band called The Pure Food and Drug Act is one you wilburn would really like
