This was one of the songs and groups that influenced me to play bass guitar and sing in a rock band back in 1967. Later in 1968 ,our rock band Deep River Rock Band from north Indiana did this song and the crowd went crazy every time. (We had one of those revolving highway orange truck lights when we started the song.) I sang high backup vocals on it. Rock on kiddies! I am 73 today and still a bass man rocker! I won't even get started on what groups I saw live back in the day..One was Led Zeppelin!! The drummer, Carmine Appice was and is considered the second best drummer ever ,after John Bonham of Led Zeppepin.Tim Bogert on bass here with Mark Stein on organ and vocals. If you want to hear each of Vanilla Fudges musicians do a solo in the same song, get In The Beginning CD or LP and listen to "Break Song". It is 25 minutes long with each member doing solos . Peace.

Ah yes, Vanilla Fudge! One of my fav bands back in “the olden days”…..ok, I was only 13/14 but used to sneak the album from my older sisters room🤣

This version is by far the most soulful...I've always loved this. The psychedelic 60's is one of my favorite genres because it paved the way for 70's prog rock. So damn good. Great reaction guys

I was 15 years old when i saw Vanilla Fudge in concert! That band did covers in their own way, you forgot about the original! There cover of the Beatles Eleanor Rigby is fantastic!!! But there was another band from 1972 that also covered Eleanor Rigby that was turned into a funk fusion, that to this day still blows my mind!! That band was The Pure Food and Drug Act! The album was called Choice Cuts.

Hi, I've never written on your page before even though I have watched your channel's reactions a few different times and have found them very enjoyable. However, after watching your reaction to this one and seeing that you both really liked it, you should watch them doing this song live. There is a live tv version from the Ed Sullivan from 1968 that I've seen quite a few people doing reactions for on this song, and these 4 guys are very good performers live. With myself being a songwriter, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist starting at the age of 12 years old, I thought these guys did a great job live on this song. The keyboard played does lead vocals while the guitar player, bass player and drummer do all the backing vocals. I played in the 80's and 90's so that's something that you used to see a lot of with more then one singer in the band. I was in two different bands where all of us could sing lead vocals, so we did all kinds of harmonies like these bands did. It was normal to see this in bands back then. But you won't see it now or even for the last 25 years or so. But I just thought it's something that both of you would enjoy so I thought I would mention it when I saw your reaction to the audio version. Great work from both of you.

O.K. This seems more reasonable for your channel. It's also an excellent pick (suggestion) overlooked by others reviewing classic rock. They were also very animated live with this hit.

If you would like to see where Vanilla Fudge’s rhythm section went, have a listen to a band called Cactus. Suggest “Parchman Farm” or “Can’t Judge a Book by the Cover”. ✌️

Those guys were unreal and had nice careers after this band. You should try Iron Butterfly and their 2nd biggest hit, In the Time of Our Lives. It is an all time banger right around the same time in that era. Enjoy! 🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶
